Police officers who arrested a man who died in their custody shortly after arriving at the Kalamazoo County Jail initially thought he was acting, newly released video reveals. The detainee, James Dunigan, 57, appeared to have fallen asleep on the way to jail and was checked by officers, who just thought he was being uncooperative. However, he was not breathing when they reached the jail. He was handed off to county staff and a jail nurse, who began resuscitation efforts, but they were unsuccessful.
