Thousands march on Bosporous Bridge in defiance of Gülenist coup attempt

Tens of thousands of citizens converged on Istanbul's Bosporous Bridge in a major protest against the July 15 failed coup plot, orchestrated by officers linked to the Fethullah Gülen terrorist organization. Waving national flags, the huge crowd marched through the Bridge spanning the Bosporous Strait between Asia and Europe. Large groups in the march chanted slogans: “Martyrs are immortal, our land is indivisible,” while some groups called for uprising against the pro-coup soldiers, whom they call the oppressor. Participants performed the national anthem and Janisarry music was played well in advance of the protest during which people shouted as “Allahu Achbar”, and recited the Word of Unity.
