An American intelligence company, Stratfor, said that four Russian helicopters and 20 trucks were destroyed in an attack conducted by Daesh terrorists on the T4 base, located in between the Palmyra and Homs provinces of Syria.

The company's claims came along with satellite imagery showing extensive damage to a strategically significant airbase in central Syria used by Russian forces supporting the Bashar al-Assad regime.

"Burning of four Russian attack helicopters and 20 trucks loaded with missiles inside T4 airport in eastern Homs [province] as a result of a nearby fire," the report said.

"What the imagery tells us is that first of all this was not an accidental explosion, as some of the rumors kept saying," Stratfor military analyst Sim Tack said.

Russia has not officially commented on the incident as the cause of the fires remains unconfirmed.

Daesh terrorists have not claimed responsibility.
