A Finnish court on Monday identified the main suspect in Friday’s killing of two women in a stabbing spree in the southwestern city of Turku.

Abderrahman Mechkah, an 18-year-old Moroccan asylum seeker, is being linked to the brutal attack which also wounded eight other women, the court was quoted as saying by local media.

The suspect was shot and arrested by police immediately after the incident, which took place in broad daylight. Police say women were deliberately targeted in the rampage.

Although the authorities say the attack has not been claimed by any terrorist group, four more suspects have been arrested and one remains at large.

The suspect is still in hospital.
