Iran and Hezbollah have killed 3,500 Palestinians in refugee camps in Syria in the last five years, said Ayman Abu Hashem, President of the General Commission for Palestinian Refugees in Syria.

"As many as 22,000 Palestinians have been kept in prisons; while more than 500 of them have been killed by torture and 1,000 are reported missing," Hashem said to Turkish Yeni Şafak daily newspaper.

"Israel is the eternal enemy of the Palestinian people. However, Iran has already killed a higher number of Palestinians in the last five years. Even at the beginning of the Syrian Civil war, refugee camps were the initial targets of the Assad regime and Iran; therefore Hasakah-Hol, Yarmouk Damascus, Daraa, Handarat, Latakia was hit by these two parties followed by the blockade of the Yarmouk camp, "Hashem said.

"Starting from 2013, Yarmouk became the target of Iranian forces; therefore, the situation in Yarmouk is worse than the situation in Gaza, " said Hashem.

"Due to its support for the Assad regime, Iran became the major actor in the massacre of millions of Sunni which concluded with ten thousands of wounded, thousands of martyred and imprisoned Palestinians which served to Zionist Israel," said Hashem.

Iran has been supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, aiming at keeping him in power as long as possible not just with logistic power but also by providing assistance of security and intelligence services.

While Iran supports the regime from air and land; Hezbollah has a more direct combat role.
