A Palestinian teenage girl was killed by a leader of the Israeli settlement committee on Sunday as he drove over the girl with his car in the West Bank.

Gershon Mesika, who is the head of the Samaria Regional Council, which is a body organized by Israeli settlers living illegally in the occupied West Bank, rammed into the girl with his car at a bus stop near the Jewish settlement of Itamar, southwest of Nablus.

Israeli police accused, as they do after every killing incident, that the Palestinian girl was intending to stab two women at the bus stop.

However, it was revealed after the incident that the girl did not harm or attempt to harm anyone, and a knife photographed at the scene appears to have been tossed near her dead body. Israeli media also confirmed that “no Israelis were injured” in the incident.

After hitting the girl with the car, which left her lying on the ground, a paramilitary settler fired multiple shots at her. But Israeli news agency Arutz Sheva reported claiming that the girl was shot “by soldiers on the scene.”

More than 90 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the past two months. The latest violence was sparked after Israeli authorities placed in force some extra restrictions for Palestinians to enter the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and Israeli soldiers stormed the mosque compound.

Eyewitnesses of the most recent incidents said the Israeli settlers and security forces killed unarmed Palestinian civilians.

In recent incidents Israel has been using a new tactic for killing Palestinians as the Israeli authority and media tried to show the killing of Palestinians as “thwarted knife attacks.”
