Israel has divided Palestine into three sections titled A, B and C. Sections B and C are areas of occupied Palestine controlled by Israel. Entry and exit of these areas is facilitated by passing through metal turnstiles. The same practice is in place in al-Khalil (Hebron). Streets and roads are completely closed off, and shops are therefore unusable. The homes of Palestinians living in al-Khalil are barred by metal grates. The aim of Israel by subjecting Palestinians to such conditions is to prompt them to escape by making their lives difficult.

Four hundred Zionist settlers

Various methods are being used in order to change the demographic structure of occupied Palestine. One of these methods is to position settlers in occupied Palestine. Four hundred Zionist fanatics were positioned in al-Khalil, and over 2,000 police were deployed under the guise of protecting the settlers.

Israel also provides financial support to the settlers it places in order to ensure that it can occupy those areas permanently. Israel also allegedly provides free utility services such as electricity and water.

Encroaching on Palestine

Justice and Development (AK) Party Istanbul Member of Parliament Ekrem Erdem, who witnessed Israel’s barbaric treatment of Palestinians before U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, said: “Israel is encroaching on Palestine while looking the rest of the world in the eye and lying. This is unacceptable. They easily slaughter people, and their excuse is that they are removing the obstacles in front of the “promised lands.” This is an inhuman approach.”

Mecca and Medina as possible targets

“The Muslim world must unite in solidarity. It is of no service to the Palestinian cause for Saudi Arabia to bomb Yemen. If we can show our unity, they will immediately take a step back. Humanity is being tested with the Jerusalem matter. Both the Muslim world and the western world are being tested. Europe did not support Trump’s decision either. The Israeli Prime Minister did not get the necessary support. I believe the public will pressure their governments. They may push for Mecca and Medina next. Precautions must be taken,” Erdem added.

Despite widespread international opposition, Trump last week announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and said preparations would begin to move the U.S. embassy there.

Trump’s decision has sparked global outrage and protests, and on Monday the EU strongly rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s calls to recognize the holy city as the capital of Israel.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan invited leaders of over 50 Muslim nations to Wednesday's meeting in Istanbul to formulate a joint response to Trump's decision.

The OIC communique declared East Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital and said that the U.S.’s Jerusalem decision was an announcement of its withdrawal from its role as a sponsor of peace.
