Mosul residents are concerned about the slow procession of the Iraqi forces in the Mosul operation that was initiated to clear the city from the Daesh terrorists.

Speaking to Turkish Yeni Şafak daily newspaper, 72-year-old Mosul resident Terfa Nasir Shilt expressed his anger towards the Iraqi army.

"They were only able to reach Bartilla in 10 days. May god have pity on us. The Iraqi army should do its best to rescue us as soon as possible," he said.

"We cannot buy a kilogram of tomatoes without being interrogated by Daesh terrorists. We are living under very tough conditions," he added.

Esad Hassan, another Mosul resident who recently fled the city described the difficult conditions in Mosul.

"The terrorists are planting bombs and mines everywhere, while they continue to dig tunnels. They also teach children how to kill people. The children are able to graduate after becoming murderers, " he said.

Operation to trigger bigger refugee crisis

The operation which is being conducted with the participation of Iraqi soldiers, U.S. soldiers, Turkish-trained fighters and Peshmerga forces, is expected to trigger a huge refugee crisis.

Many of the 1.5 million Mosul residents are to migrate to Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) regions instead of Hashd Shaabi militia-controlled regions.

Meanwhile, around 1,200 Mosul residents reached Dibege Refugee Camp, which is totally full.

"Every day, 100 families seek asylum in the camp. However, the camp is full. So men newly arriving are staying at the mosque while the women are staying at the school. There are also people coming from Fallujah and Havija," he said.

Tunnels linking villages

Iraqi army officials indicated that there are many tunnels linking villages in Mosul which were excavated by the Daesh terrorists.

"Daesh is using heavy weapons that it has never used before during the operation in Bartilla, " said Brigadier Fadil Bervari.

The Mosul operation is being conducted with the participation of Iraqi soldiers, U.S. soldiers, Turkish-trained fighters and Peshmerga forces.

In mid-2014, the Daesh terrorist group captured the northern city of Mosul and overran vast swathes of territory in northern and western Iraqi.
