Tajikistan-origin Abu Omar Halimov is claimed to be the new Daesh emir who was trained by the United States (U.S.) to counter the Turkish military that has been conducting an operation in al-Bab.

Halimov was fighting for Daesh in Iraq and sent into Syria to prop up Daesh as the organization's power was seen waning against Turkish soldiers during the Euphrates Shield operation.

Daesh's new deployment was spurred by the killing of U.S.-trained Chechen Daesh commander Abu Omar al-Shishani by U.S. forces.

Abu Omar, whose real name is Gulmurad Halimov, is discovered to have served duty in Tajik Presidency National Guard and the police's special forces under the Interior Ministry of Tajikistan.

Halimov also fought against the separatists in Tajikistan and Afghanistan respectively between 2009-12.

In August 2016, the United States placed $3 million on Halimov's head, as Interpol issued a Red Notice to find the terrorist.

The Daesh terrorists are known to be weakened in al-Bab due to the efforts of Turkey, which is proceeding to the center of al-Bab as a part of the Operation Euphrates Shield, which was initiated on August 24, 2016 to support Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters in their efforts to sweep terrorist elements from northern Syria.

The operation in al-Bab is significant as the intersections that surround al-Bab village give significance to its strategically important location.

Al-Bab, which translates as door, can be considered as a “door" that is on the route from Daesh-held Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and the Turkish border.

Therefore, both Daesh and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorist organizations deem the town strategically crucial.

Previous reports showed that the leader of the Daesh terrorist organization, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, married with a resident of al-Bab and declared that all other terrorists are his relatives.

With his recent move, Baghdadi aims to gain the support of the residents.

It is estimated that more than 600,000 people have been killed in the Syrian Civil War, according to the recent figures.
