Turkey issues arrest warrant for ex-CIA officer Graham Fuller over coup links

Turkey issued an arrest warrant for former U.S Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) Vice Chairman on Friday over his links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ)-led July 15 defeated coup.

The arrest warrant was issued by the Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office, which found that Fuller had contact with other suspects involved in the coup attempt such as former CIA employee Henry J. Barkey.

Fuller and Barkey allegedly organized a meeting at the Splendid Palace Hotel in Istanbul’s Büyükada in July 2016, and Fuller has admitted that he penned a reference letter for FETÖ ringleader Fetullah Gülen after the FBI resisted giving Gülen permanent residency between 2006 and 2010.

Fuller was allegedly in Turkey during the failed July 15 coup and departed once it failed.

FETÖ terrorists are led by U.S.-based Gülen, who orchestrated Turkey's July 15 coup attempt and is the mastermind behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.

Since the failed coup, operations have been ongoing in the military, police and judiciary as well as in state institutions across the country to arrest suspects with alleged links to FETÖ.
