Turkey, US-led coalition attacks Daesh targets in Syria

Turkish Armed Forces along with the U.S.-led international coalition hit several Daesh targets near the Turkish border in northern Syria

The Daesh-held north Syrian villages and towns were shaken by heavy artillery fire along with intensified airstrikes on Saturday night.



U.S.-led anti-Daesh coalition jets pounded Daesh targets in Mera, Tel Rifat Savran line in northern Syria, 30 kilometer from the Turkish border, while Turkey's T-155 Fırtına howitzers and tanks opened fire at the militants held villages on the border line.



The artillery fires hit at least 10 villages including Karaköprü, Düdyen and Karamezere villages, according to security sources.



Sources said Saturday night's operation was one of the wide-ranged operations against Daesh militants launched in recent weeks.



During the operation, mortar shells fired from Syrian side fell in an open field near the Elbeyli district of border province Kilis.
