Local sources have reported that as part of the ongoing Turkish-led Operation Euphrates Shield, the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Turkish forces are now in control of 40% of the Daesh held city of Al-Bab, Syria.
Friday marks the 171st day of the operation launched in late August to improve security, support coalition forces and eliminate the threat of terror along the Turkish-Syrian border.
Counterterrorism military operations were launched against Daesh in the early hours of the morning. Troops advanced from the east and west of Al-Bab to recapture the Zamzam neighborhood.
The Daesh terror group came under heavy artillery fire by the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF).
Daesh members have started to retreat towards Tedef, a town just southeast of Al-Bab.
