A four-person technical delegation from Turkey's Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock arrived in Moscow on Tuesday to discuss Turkish fruit and vegetable exports to Russia.

The team arrived in the capital on Monday evening and is expected to hold a meeting with representatives from the Russian Agricultural Products Inspection Agency.

The meeting will be the first official talks between Turkey and Russia since a Russian SU-24 fighter jet was shot down by Turkish F-16 military aircraft after a border violation near the Syrian border in November 2015.

In retaliation, Moscow among other punishments imposed sanctions on Turkish products and cancelled the visa-free regime for Turkish citizens.

Last week, Russian Agricultural Products Inspection Agency's Deputy Chair, Aleksey Alekseenko, invited a Turkish team to discuss technical issues regarding the Turkish fruit and vegetable trade.

Turkish Agriculture Minister Faruk Çelik said the move from the Russian side is a positive one, and he hopes these meetings will bring good results.
