The Turkish army killed 65 Daesh terrorists in operations in northern Syria on Sunday, the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) said on Monday.

The Turkish military has been surrounding the Daesh controlled town of al-Bab for weeks, as part of the ongoing Euphrates Shield Operation.

The Turkish-led Euphrates Shield Operation, aided by the Free Syrian Army (FSA), was launched in late August to improve security, support coalition forces, and eliminate the terror threat along Turkey's border.

Monday marks the 153rd day of the operation. The Euphrates Shield Operation cleared an area of 1,100 square kilometers within its first 50 days, and has since secured additional areas, bringing the amount of the total area to 2,000 square kilometers.
