An intelligence report has emerged stating that Iraqi intelligence informed Peshmerga and U.S. army about upcoming Daesh attack on Kirkuk, but US military did not take any measures, which resulted in a deadly Daesh attack on the city last week.

The intelligence report was sent to Peshmerga forces on Oct. 6 pointing out a security vulnerability in the city.

After receiving the report, Peshmerga forces held an emergency meeting with U.S. officers in the region on Oct. 9 and demanded additional security measures for the oil-rich city.

But Americans refused the demand, saying, “Daesh would use all power to protect Mosul rather attacking Kirkuk."

Three days after the meeting, a second intelligence report had come on Oct 12.

But, neither the Peshmerga nor the U.S. military took any action over the report.

On Oct. 21, dozens of Daesh terrorists entered the city and attacked important government buildings including police headquarters, killing dozens of security forces personnel.

Local security sources said the terrorists did not come from outside the city. They were inside the city for a long time as sleeping cells, according to Kirkuk security officials.

With its counterattack, the Daesh terror group demonstrated its ability to stage assaults in neighbor cities even as it became encircled in Mosul, sources said.

Kirkuk is in an emergency situation, residents expressed their anxiety over further Daesh attacks.

Security forces have yet to confirm that all Daesh elements in the city are killed.
