Turkey’s first micro-miniature exhibition kicked off on Thursday in the Kuşadası, a district in the western Aydın province, showcasing a variety of unique artwork invisible to the naked eye, including the world’s smallest hand-written Quran created by Necati Korkmaz, who is Turkey’s only Gubari calligraphy artist.
Korkmaz, known as one of three micro-sculptors in the world, creates artifacts that sit within the eye of a needle or on a pin-head and completed the world’s smallest manuscript of the Quran, measuring less than 1 centimeter, within 3 years.
He stressed that for this outstanding work he mostly worked at nights, in a very hygienic setting and used a brush made from fox whiskers.
Korkmaz previously inscribed the 99 names of Allah (God) on a lentil and the Basmala (an Arabic phrase meaning “In the name of God, the most Gracious, the most Merciful”) on a hair.
