Team USA's 58-game winning streak came to an end with an 79-89 loss to France on Wednesday in the FIBA World Cup quarterfinals in China.

France stunned the Americans at the Dongguan Basketball Center in their first-ever World Cup win over Team USA.

The loss also brought an end to the Americans' streak of five straight major tournament titles.

France will face Argentina in the semifinals on Friday in Beijing.

The player of the game was France's Rudy Gobert with 21 points, 16 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists and 1 steal.

Donovan Mitchell led Team USA in scoring, finishing with 29 points.

Team USA was unbeaten in the last 13 years in the World Cup and Olympics.

The team consists of NBA players, but Kemba Walker is the only All-Star guard for the Team USA in China.

Many superstars, including Lebron James, Klay Thompson, DeMar DeRozan, Jimmy Butler, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, did not make the squad due to injuries or they did not choose to play for the Team USA to get ready for the 2019-2020 NBA season.
