The Golden State Warriors won Game 1 of the NBA Finals at home Thursday after defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 124-114 in overtime.

The fans at Oracle Arena saw a close match as the Warriors managed to take care of business in overtime after surviving in regular time, when Cavs' shooting guard JR Smith passed up an opportunity to take the lead following an offensive rebound with only 4.7 seconds left.

Lebron James again added to his playoff legacy with 51 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists but failed to come on top as the Warriors were too much in the overtime period.

Stephen Curry led his team in scoring with 29 points. He also shot 5-for-11 from the three point line. Kevin Durant scored 26 points and Klay Thompson chipped in with 24 points, including five three pointers.

Warriors' defensive anchor Draymond Green also put on an all-around performance, contributing 13 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists, five steals and three blocked shots.

Game 2 will be played Sunday evening at Oracle Arena.
