Ever since U.S. President Donald Trump became president, there have been rumors that he had prepared a plan for a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine. However, there has been little information leaked about the details of this plan so far. On the other hand, it didn't escape people's attention that the delegation appointed by Trump to carry out this plan, which is being kept a secret, was chosen from pro-Israel politicians.
The top three figures of the delegation are Trump's son-in-law and his adviser Jared Kushner, his former lawyer Jason Greenblatt and Ambassador to Israel David Friedman. These three names who are Jewish are known to support Israel's illegal settlements in occupied territories. These three figures are not neutral, on the contrary, they defend Israel's arguments. Trump's Foreign Affairs and National Security team also support Israel unconditionally. The "Israel Lobby" in the United States proclaimed Trump as "the greatest pro-Israel U.S. president ever." Vice President of the United States Mike Pence is well known for his "Christian-Zionist" identity for religious reasons. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was a pro-Israel politician, when he was a member of the United States House of Representatives. U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is famous for sabotaging every effort that could the benefit of Palestinians and preventing all attempts that could be harmful to Israel.
Haley recently tried to put pressure on UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in an attempt to prevent the UN's new "Palestinian report" from being released to the public. The report, which drew heavy criticism of Israel, was leaked in parts. In the report there is a warning of a new war in Gaza, while it was stated that the humanitarian crisis has reached unbearable conditions, and drew attention to the usage of disproportionate force by Israel against Palestinians. "Israel's settlement activities is ongoing continually and it undermines the hopes of establishment of a Palestinian state," the report stated. The UN report that Haley wanted to prevent from being published will be released in the coming days.
Trump's so-called peace committee prefers to talk with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan and Egypt rather than Palestinians. Kushner seems to be relying on his personal connections with the leaders of these countries. Egypt is dependent on the U.S. military and economic aid. For the Saudis and the UAE, the "Iran issue" is more crucial than Palestine. These two countries stand by the U.S. and Israel against Iran. Jordan, which hosts a massive Palestinian population, is struggling with a severe economic and financial crisis. There has been a change of government in the country due to the public reaction to the IMF-induced budget cuts. The U.S. committee relies on these countries to impose this plan upon Palestinians. Ever since Trump's decision to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, the committee's communication with the Palestinian Authority has been severed. Trump's plan is the ''Bibi (Netanyahu) Plan'' for the Palestinians who do not believe that Washington can be an honest broker of this process.
It has been said that Trump’s plan for the Palestine-Israel conflict is ready. In the coming days, Kushner and Special Representative Greenblatt will meet officials in Jerusalem, Cairo and Amman. The Committee will not meet with the Palestinian administration in Ramallah which boycotted the White House for Trump's "Jerusalem decision." Kushner and Greenblatt met with UN Secretary General Guterres in New York before heading to the region. We hear that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the last Palestine's initiatives of the UN were discussed in the meeting that Nikki Haley attended. Kushner met with British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Boris Johnson as well. Kushner has indicated to Johnson that they were open to suggestions coming from Europe, but said that Trump would give the final form to the peace plan. It is said that the Committee will arrange a meeting with European diplomats in early July. It is not certain whether the meeting will be in Europe or in the United States. Additionally, it is unclear whether the foreign affairs ministers of Arab countries will join the meeting.
