At least 30 people lost their lives in the aftermath of the attacks in three different U.S. states. There is serious evidence that the attacks were motivated by “White Supremacy.” U.S. President Trump, on the other hand, claimed that the attackers were mentally ill. He refuses to say that White Supremacy is a threat. Democrats accuse Trump of inciting White Nationalist violence. Trump had recently asked four Democrat lawmakers of immigrant origin to return to their country at a rally, and the crowd was heard chanting “send them back.”
Immigrants are also the target of the rising far-right in Europe. White Racists argue that the “White-Christian” fabric of the U.S. and Europe is being destroyed by immigrants. Trump said that Europe's hosting of immigrants "damages the fabric of Europe."
In March 2019, 51 Muslims were killed as a result of a white racist terrorist attack on two separate mosques in New Zealand. Over the weekend, a criminal who attacked a shopping center in Texas's border city, El Paso, massacred 19 people and praised this New Zealand criminal. The New Zealand massacre terrorist said that he was inspired by Anders Breivik, who murdered 77 people in Norway in 2011. These connections between white racists point to a global terrorist network.
After the previous mass attacks, a widespread campaign against individual armament was launched. The House of Representatives, where the Democrats are the majority, approved the draft laws restricting individual armament. The bills had to be ratified in the Senate for it to take effect. Mitch McConnell, the majority leader of the Senate controlled by the Republicans, did not put the bill up for a vote. The Democrats called on McConnell and asked him to bring the bill to the floor. McConnell did not receive a satisfactory explanation, he noted.
The U.S. ranks first in weapons per capita. An average of 100 people die a day due to firearms. There are about 120 weapons per 100 people. So there are more guns than people. The United States constitutes 4.4 percent of the world's population and almost half of civilian weapons. The U.S. ranks second among the six countries that make up more than half of the deaths by guns worldwide.
The most powerful lobby against restrictions on individual armament is the National Rifle Association (NRA) with over 5 million members. The NRA spent more than $30 million on Trump's election in 2016. Carolyn Dodgen Meadows, president of the NRA, is also Vice-President of the American Conservative Union. Meadows also served as a member of the Republican National Committee (RNC) for three terms in Georgia.
In April 2019, Meadows was elected president of the NRA, and in an interview she said she would work to get Trump re-elected as president. Conservative politicians in the U.S. saluted the NRA posing with cowboy hats and weapons before the elections.
At an NRA meeting in April 2019, Trump promised to fight for the right to individual armament. "The UN will soon receive official notification that the United States has rejected this agreement," Trump said, signing a document that would rescind the United States' signature for the UN Arms Trade Agreement. He also harshly criticized the Democrats.
The Democrats want to turn White Supremacy terror and individual armament into an effective campaign in the 2020 elections. The U.S. encourages arms races both at home and abroad. Let's see if Americans will stop this monster called the “Military-Industrial Complex, this “Lobby of Death”?
