No matter how we name it, even from Turkey’s viewpoint, Eastern-Western or religionist-secular living spaces and values have always taken place within the indicators that are almost always in the center of the community and politics.

Despite all forms of the transformation story being experienced by the country, the same issue and conflict axis still stay on the “table” today.

Arguments and polarizations continue around this axis.

Each of the polarizations around the essential contradictions is considered a “conflict”, “state of conflict” in the sociological sense.

The devastation of the polarization starts at this point.

Likewise, when the conflict forms the essential axis of the politics, power-centered analyses, attitudes and expectations become prominent.

The “power” precludes the idea, and the domestic dynamics drop down to the secondary level of importance among the polarization cries.

The “power”-indexed political perception starts to become natural. The opinions within the community start to become polarized, and the poles become homogeneous.

This outline is darker and more difficult for us than it is in other communities.

Because Turkey is a country, in which the community, politics and freedom fields are still limited, the patriarchal mentality still runs wild; and besides, Turkey exists on a “fault line fracture of Western-Eastern identities”.

Ongoing communal issues, and even the issues of freedom, democracy, laicism, citizenship and poverty, will be locked on to this power pursuit. These issues will be handled in a “back to square one” style in every period and every occasion. When this happens, the “advantage cards” of the power game will be re-shuffled. Ranging from the political parties to newspapers, from the writers to state units, the power analyses made with the positions taken by the individuals and corporations based on their benefits, and their democracy cries will be intermingled. Other than some exceptions, despite all their differentiations, the sides will set their “power”-indexed “identity” advantages as a common language. For a country, which picks up the heavy depressions they experience in the sense of politics or mentality through the “power germ”, the polarization conditions we are encountering are again playing its tricks.

A reactionist political perception is still in the front…

When two types of reactiveness, opportunism, and conflict axises overlap, I think that it would be easy to guess the general outline that will be caused by it…

As a matter of fact, this situation, as it always has been, makes out a serious invoice to the state-politics, state-community relations. Likewise, feeding the “patriarchal” mentality of the same scenery is the same.

Yet, regardless of whether it’s a nationalist culture or statist, a structure that fails to produce by transforming itself from the inside, will produce by ripping itself and dividing itself into pieces.

And under these conditions, the “slipping of the freedoms platform” becomes inevitable in the political and communal field. The communities that possess a democratic reflex will reduce this type of devastation to the minimum by means of its politics, intellectuals and corporations.

As for Turkey, it is still steering away from the tools and mechanisms of this protection.
