Extreme "politization", which forms a tyranny over the society, idea and cultural existence, is some kind of a "depolitization" that rips politics from society. Turkey always presents evidences of this and at every level.
Extreme politicization creates a wave, which slips the idea at the "writer - intellectual" level, understanding and analyzing into background and instead brings forth organizing, front and struggle within a rude and almost ideological blindness.
Turkey has been subjected to such a wave in almost every topic for a long time.
The Gezi incidents, December 17, March elections and now the presidential election are the pieces, which are arranged consecutively and included in this wave.
This wave is applying pressure for taking sides, sharpening concerns and pushing every fatal communal and cultural element, as well as every element that is related with political transformation, into "narrow political reckoning".
Naturally, these conditions make it impossible for one of the sides to prevail over another in terms of quality, mind and depth. On the contrary, regardless of the difference between what they say, their presented performance and created results are similar to each other.
Off to one side there is a view, which is symbolized with a strong "anti-Erdogan obsession". Before everything, this obsession has a "denominational aspect", "elitist aspect" and certainly a political objection, political concern aspect. What appears today is a chowder that is formed by these. This view makes the contentious groups and mentalities of yesterday fall into each other"s arms at the same ratio it singularizes the political opinion, as well as the political attitudes, and renders them normal. Radiance, Oda TV, some liberals, nationalists and some left-wing democrats are pulling each other down and thus forming an interesting team. Their only common side and only issue at the same time is weakening the AK Party hegemony and besides, doing this in a range, which skids from principle to benefit, under every tool and condition, as it happened during the CHP congregation and some liberals" partnership on December 17. The support given to a name like Sarigül, clamping together around the name of Mansur Yavas, joining all the forces against AK Party under the name of Ihsanoglu and the "making bread out of a paste without politics" efforts are advancing further within this frame.
This political climate, which is indexed to hatred, hostility and lack of politics, is destroying Turkey"s ability to understand and evaluate its past and present, positives and negatives within these circles.
There is also "the other side of the Erdogan obsession, which is the Erdoganist side".
The perspective that links the distance covered in the past 10 years and the transformation Turkey experienced to politics, and degrades politics to a single party"s performance and this performance to the existence of a single man, Tayyip Erdogan, is as blind as much as the other in terms of politics and as infertile as much as the other in terms of sociology.
Skipping communal internal dynamics, outer dynamics, global and regional conjuncture, and most importantly, political struggles and communal familiarization attempts, and forgetting that the politics, political party and even the political leader is actually the products of these things, is an inevitable and severe situation, which we are exposed to.
This is an attitude, which doesn"t want an alternative or competitor next to the leader Erdogan in terms of hot politics and not only praises but also defends the singularity despite its pluralism claim.
However, every possibility within this frame is being subjected to an annihilation move because of this. Even Gül"s name is causing disorder. If a meaningful development in terms of political and communal transformation does not touch AK Party and if this development is generated with the contributions of different segments and groups, then they will be disregarded, and, the political communal contribution and the idea of sharing is not being tolerated.
This climate, which is formed by taking sides and the double wind caused by it, is making it impossible to read the inputs of the presidential campaign and connecting these with the recent past.
HDP is an example of this…
"The Erdogan obsession"s Erdoganist face" is approaching HDP as a new anti-AK Party structuring. The opposition"s attempts of raising the bar of democracy, principled politics, and the transformation effort in the Kurdish political movement, which is triggered by the resolution process, are all being disregarded.
At this point, similar to the indirect relationship between AK Party and the Kurdish movement, the fact, that the political switch is not only consisted of a political clash and competition, is not being comprehended.
Meanwhile, "obsession"s anti-Erdoganist face" is regarding HDP as a factor, which will divide the votes and hamper Ihsanoglu. As for the ones that support HDP, they are disregarding the share of Erdogan"s, whom they are furious with, and AK Party"s radical steps within this process, which brought them to their present point.
Pluralism is primarily a mentality issue.
