How will the Rohingyas and Morsi not be saved?

Chanting more slogans and screaming more will not save the Rohingyas, the Myanmar Muslims, who are stuck in the middle of the sea in Asia and face death due to starvation.

Starting a new hashtag on Twitter, sending more tweets, and re-tweeting will not save the first democratically elected Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, -who was overthrown by a military coup- from execution.

If we were to take photos of the Rohingya Muslims who are skin and bones because of starvation, and make trends out of these, get 10,000 likes on Facebook, the Rohingyas would still not be saved from the sinking boats.

If we were to select seven seconds out of the most important parts of Morsi's farewell speech, publish this on Vine and get 2,000 favorites, Morsi will still not be saved from execution.

If we were to take photos of thousands of Rohingya Muslims in a boat in the middle of the sea during sunset, and post the best pictures where the sun kisses their face on Instagram, and re-post and like these photos, those people will still not be saved from those boats.

If we were to shed tears from night till dawn on the holy night of Lailat al Miraj (believed by Muslims to be the night when Prophet Muhammad rose to the sky), pray and worship, remember God and wake up in the morning to go on with our daily lives, Morsi will not be saved from execution yet again.

If we were to consistently recite verses such as “The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy,” “Allah will perfect His light…” and find all relevant chapters and verses from the Qur'an and write these out, those poor Rohingyas will not be saved from the boat.

If we were to write about the hypocricy of the West, the brutality and ruthlessness of China, dishonorableness of Thailand, and “nefariousness” of the Buddhists day and night, repeat this, translate it to English to be shared on social media, these again will not prevent the death of Rohingya Muslims due to starvation.

If we were to write the world's strongest essay about how the Western democracy failed in Egypt and in reality, the West is not a democrat; this is actually a lie and that the West betrayed itself by supporting the coup in Egypt, and translate these to English, French, German and Italian, and write letters to the leaders of these countries, Morsi will still not be saved from execution.

If we were to send SMS donations through the Red Cross and various other non-governmental organizations such as the İHH, Sadakataşı and İyilikder, and even fully donate our obligatory alms to them and sleep with the tranquility of donating, the Rohingya Muslims will not be saved when we wake up in the morning.

If we have a guilty conscience when buying Armani shawls and Versace silk headscarves, and if we start thinking “I should no longer buy Chanel perfume”, and if we buy one rather than two Cerruti suits, decrease the number of Zegna shirts and not wear those “damned” Loubotine shoes, Morsi will still not be saved from execution.

If we were to hold rallies, and chant slogans until we lose our voice, prepare the most effective posters in four different languages and close the roads for traffic, burn the Chinese and American flags and jump on them, the Rohingya Muslims will still not be saved from those boats.

If we were to swear at Arab sheikhs, emirs and “petro-dollars” millionaires, and translate these insults into Arabic, and start a new hashtag on Twitter saying that they are the “servants of America”, we will still not be able to prevent the execution of Morsi and his friends.

If you were to interrogate me, saying, “Are you against the power of prayers,” “don't you have belief in the Qur'an,” and “Everything that Allah wills happens,” and debate faith, Islamic jurisprudence with me and announce me as a disbeliever, Morsi will still not be saved from execution, and the Rohingya Muslims from death in the middle of the sea.

Even if you accuse me of imposing and spreading pessimism, breeding hopelessness and despair and argue with me till dawn, discussing psychology, sociology and epistemology, declare me as a traitor, Bedii, Morsi and their friends will not be saved from execution and the Rohingya Muslims from the sinking boat.

We did all of these, over and over again, for hundreds, thousands of times; it's just a no go.

Don't you get it, we have no power.

“…And fall into no disputes lest ye lose heart and your power departs.” Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 46.

“Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” Surat Ar-Ra'd, Verse 11.

How will the Rohingyas and Morsi not be saved?
As conservatism continues to gain strength...
Most sought-after, challenging to recruit, and expected to rise occupations in Türkiye
Restricting access to X in Türkiye is only a matter of time
