Following the assignment of the interim trustees to 28 municipalities upon the claim that they support terrorism, the U.S. made a statement through its embassy in Ankara and stated that they are “concerned.”
The U.S. and U.S. Embassy's sensitivity regarding the “elected” is really very emotional!
There are tens of examples in recent history showing the U.S.'s sensitivity regarding the elected.
In 1970, Salvador Allende was elected as Chile state president by the people and then the parliament. Following Allende's election when he started to make radical reforms, terrorism in Chile escalated. Operations were started both from within and outside to destabilize Chile. On Sept. 11, 1973, the Chile military perpetrated a bloody coup. The parliament building La Moneda was bombed. Allende was killed. He was replaced by dictator Augusto Pinochet, who would work in extreme cooperation with the U.S. Thousands of people were killed after the coup, tens of thousands were tortured, sent into exile and imprisoned.
Nobody had any doubt that the U.S. was behind the bloody coup of Chile. Henry Kissinger's, “We helped coup forces” statement to President Richard Nixon went into official records anyway.
Former Venezuela President Hugo Chavez is another example. Garnering 56 percent of the vote in the 1998 Venezuela elections, Chavez was elected president. Chavez, who was detained with the coup attempt of a group within the military in 2002, returned to post within two days upon the people's reaction toward the perpetrators of the coup. Chavez was not the only one to claim the U.S. was behind the failed coup attempt, the whole world knew it.
We all know how the entire West as well as the U.S. took an indifferent attitude upon the coup on democratically elected Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, his imprisonment, the killing of hundreds of people, how they protected the coup plotters.
It was no secret that the U.S. was long disturbed by the elected government in Turkey, Egypt and Brazil. Hence, Dilma Rousseff was suspended from presidency with a coup similar to the Dec. 17 and Dec. 25, 2013 coup attempt in Turkey. A coup on an elected president was extremely pleasing for the U.S.
It was also always discussed that the U.S. was also behind Turkey's Sept. 12 coup. It was claimed that CIA Ankara Station Chief Paul Henze informed the U.S. about the coup saying, “Our boys did it.” It was only later that the U.S. announced it was informed about the coup on the night of Sept. 11. They also never saw the Feb. 28 coup on late politician Necmettin Erbakan.
When the Dec. 17 coup attempt had started, it was claimed that the U.S. ambassador of the time told a group of U.S. ambassadors, “You are going to see the collapse of the empire.” We haven't forgotten that either.
What about July 15, 2016?
An official from Turkey's Foreign Ministry called the U.S. ambassador at 11:25 p.m. and informed him that a coup was happening and that they expect support for the elected government. The ambassador conveys this news to Washington.Forty minutes later, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry makes an extremely cold statement, almost in support of the Gülenist coup plotters. About half an hour after this, another announcement is made from the White House's Twitter account stating that they are watching the developments – again, instilling hope in the coup plotters. Half an hour later, based on U.S. government officials, Reuters published the news that the developments are being followed, adding that it is uncertain “who will win.”
Finally, at about 2:00 a.m., after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan connected to the television stations and called the people to take to the streets, the people took to the streets; in other words, once it was clear that the coup had failed, the U.S. announced they “support the elected government.”
It is not hard to understand that the failed coup attempt created great disappointment for the U.S. The cold statements by U.S. authorities post-July 15, the aggressive attitude of U.S. media, their protection of Fetullah Gülen, the felonious boss behind the coup, show how enthusiastic they are to oust the elected government.
However, had the July 15 coup succeeded, the U.S. would have been very pleased with the “trustee” appointed to Turkey, it would work in cooperation with that administration and do important “business” together.
Just as they worked in cooperation with Pinochet, the trustee they assigned to Chile, Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi, the trustee they assigned to Egypt and Kenan Evren, the trustee they had assigned to Turkey on Sept. 12, they were going to work in great cooperation with Gülen, the trustee they planned to appoint to Turkey on July 15.
The U.S. never had any sensitivity regarding the “elected.”
Of course, its disturbance regarding the appointment of caretaker trustees to municipalities supporting the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is not due to them being “elected.” Their most important tool, Gülen, is being wiped out of Turkey. Of course, the other tool, the PKK's tough position, is also clear to the U.S. Such that the U.S. has the audacity to compare Turkey with northern Syria and does not hesitate to give the support it gives to the Democratic Union Party (PYD) to the PKK as well.
There will be many who say “these are conspiracy theories” to veil the matter, but the intelligence organization will not leave any evidence behind – if it did, it would not be an intelligence organization.
Also, “The fact that we are paranoid does not mean we are not being followed.”
