Nedim Şener touched upon important topics during an appearance on a program on CNNTürk on Dec. 16, 2013. Şener, who stated that the community’s most important and smartest police chief, Ali Fuat Yılmazer, had sent him a message, said: “Ali Fuat Yılmazer sent me a message via a journalist colleague of mine. ‘Tell that idiot Nedim to watch his step so he doesn’t become collateral damage in the big fight against the government that will soon commence.’”
(Community and parallel structure are terms used to refer to the Fethullah Gülen-led movement.)
These remarks were actually an indication that the community would launch an operation. The community had been exposed as of December 2013 and was openly revealed. Ali Fuat Yılmazer was behind every critical operation, including those on Dec. 17, 2013 and Dec. 25, 2013. He was the one directing events backstage. He had control over crucial cases that led to Nedim Şener’s arrest like Ergenekon, Balyoz and others.
There were, of course, other actions carried out by Ali Fuat Yılmazer as well. One of these was public relations activities after an operation to convince the public. Newsgathering activities of newspapers and all news that would be disseminated passed his desk. The language and style used in some of the community’s newspapers belong to Yılmazer. The books of many authors were penned by Ali Fuat Yılmazer’s special team. The one and only thing the authors did was to affix their names.
Many prominent journalists even received such proposals in the period between 2011 and 2013. Some accepted, while others didn’t. The moment an operation concerning a case was launched, police officers would pass on their meticulously prepared news articles to the media. This team was behind the preparation of all news articles from the time Hanefi Avcı was arrested in September 2010 right up to the coup attempts of Dec. 17 and Dec. 25. A superintendent was supervising the writing of these books. A certain number of police officers wrote these books under the superintendant’s supervision.
There are two striking examples of how Ali Fuat Yılmazer manipulates the media like an orchestra conductor. For instance, the article titled “Sabri Uzun joins the ‘witch hunt’ too” by criminal organization member Nazlı Ilıcak that appeared in the Bugün newspaper on Sunday Jan. 11 reeks strongly of Ali Fuat Yılmazer.
I am certain that Nazlı Ilıcak hasn’t read the book. How interesting that Nazlı Ilıcak has based her article on Yaşar Büyükanıt and the bombing of the Umut bookstore. Since it is known that the community had a hand in this too, Yılmazer immediately intervened. He wrote that part and sent it to his minion Ilıcak. Ilıcak then pretended like it was her own comment and used it in her column.
In recent months Ali Fuat Yılmazer sent a file from Silivri (Silivri Prison) in Nazlı Ilıcak’s name to Bugün newspaper. Since Ilıcak was in Cyprus at the time, the newspaper took the document in the file as it was and published it in her column. It is a known truth that even the book titled “Is the community under every rock?” was prepared by Ali Fuat Yılmazer under Nazlı Ilıcak’s name.
The second article concerning Sabri Uzun’s book was written in the Zaman newspaper by Bülent Korucu, who lacks individual intelligence. How strange that Korucu, too, in his article titled “What emerges from Uzun’s lair will anger Erdoğan” touches upon the issues of the Umut bookstore and Yaşar Büyükanıt. This article by Korucu, just like Ilıcak’s article, bears Yılmazer’s signature.
I will even bet that Korucu’s article was dictated to him directly from Silivri. Everyone in the media is aware that this poor man Korucu lacks the capacity to write such things. Anyone who reads both Ilıcak’s article and Korucu’s article will immediately realize that they were written by the same person. By also touching upon issues such as Tuncay Güney and the assassination attempt on Hilmi Özkök, Yılmazer thought he could cover up that fact, but didn’t succeed.
Books written in the past by Adem Yavuz Arslan titled “There is an Armenian” and “Ergenekon’s apex. How did minorities become a target from Dink to Malatya?” were also the work of Ali Fuat Yılmazer and his team. Apparently a bullet was sent to Arslan after the book was published and he was threatened. This event too was the result of the imagination of the community’s police officers. For whatever reason, whoever sent the bullet could never be found.
The same team was behind Erkan Acar’s “Dark room,” Mehmet Baransu’s “Monsieur & What Hanefi Avcı left unwritten,” Emre Uslu’s “The Kurds yesterday, the communities today,” Önder Aytaç’s “Hanefi Avcı’s wagging chin and paranoia.” The police officers would give them the book and these authors would just affix their names to it.
Ali Fuat Yılmazer is in Silivri but he continues to manage the media and authors from there. You will find Yılmazer’s mark on some of Mehmet Kamış’s articles too. After the incident of Feb. 7, 2012, Abdülhamit Bilici, Bülent Korucu and Mehmet Kamış each wrote one article about MİT (National Intelligence Organization) in the Zaman newspaper the following week. The source of these articles, which were shaped by the same lathe, was Ali Fuat Yılmazer, who had said, “Even the strongest power won’t be able to save Hakan Fidan.”
And then there is Ekrem Dumanlı (the editor-in-chief of Zaman.) His articles come ready-made from Pennsylvania. (Term used to refer to Gülen based on him residing in self-imposed exile in that U.S. state.) You read those articles with Ekrem Dumanlı’s byline but the real author is Pennsylvania. Remember that there is no individual intelligence in the community. Every apprentice has to obey the orders that come from above.
