The pains of the Transition Process

In the past three years, Turkey endured great crises. The guardianship-supporter bureaucratic structure, which failed to defeat the elected and legitimate government in democratic ways and the methods required by politeness, and their parallel extensions within the government attacked AK Party and Tayyip Erdoğan with all their might. First attempt of this had been the KCK arrests after Oslo and the February 7th incident. The parallel structure wanted to put the ones, who were saying let there be peace and brotherhood, in to the prison. The most clever politician in the Republic’s history, Erdoğan, had broken this game and took the wind out of their sails.

When the ones, who wanted to handcuff Erdoğan through MIT, failed to do so, the parallel police officers gave the Gezi-supporter crew the chance of their lives after they burned their tents intentionally. When they couldn’t find the legitimacy that they had desired in the elections, they questioned the government of the Gezi attempting. They made a call for early elections. They claimed that Erdoğan cannot administer Turkey anymore. Right at this point, the “single man”, “dictator” expressions came into play. The ones, who didn’t even have a single article published, started to give a date for the ending day of Erdoğan’s political life. These were the ones who were finished.

Of course, they didn’t even believe what they had written. Later on, the December 17 – 25 coup attempts happened. The target was Erdoğan again. With a “Let AK Party stay, but Erdoğan should go” method, the parallel structure targeted Mr. President directly. Like the others before it, the parallel structure was also looking for ways to overthrow Erdoğan. They were applying to dastardly methods like involving Erdoğan’s family, illegal wiretapping and espionage activities.

The ones, who stopped MIT lorries and wiretapped the most discreet conversations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and serviced them, were having the world listen to those recordings through the Parliament lecterns by the hand of the opposition party. Before the Geneva 2 negotiations, they wanted to have Turkey and Erdoğan stand trial in the International Criminal Court with their “Turkey is helping Al Qaeda” and “Turkey is supporting ISIL” arguments. Just then, this time the PKKism within Qandil and HDP came into play with their October 7-8 provocations. They burned the streets and slaughtered 52 of our citizens. What they wanted was to let the streets stir and prevent peace. When this dirty operation failed, a flattery towards Selahattin Demirtaş began. They started publish surveys, they start to say that AK Party is a goner. Like it happens before every election, they didn’t find it risky to publish fake surveys. The June 7th elections will be a disappointment for them, but so be it; the more lies, the better.

Then, what was the actual target in all these? Who did the military guardianship, parallel guardianship, nationalist fools, drunk liberals and PKK-sided intellectuals want to destroy? The answer is Erdoğan. It was Erdoğan who is the architect of the peace process, repelled December 17-25 and disposed of the Gezi incident. Especially against a heavy coup like December 17-25, we have seen that Erdoğan was a lonely man within the party. I’m asking you, if Erdoğan wasn’t there, what would have happened to us in December 17-25? Let me tell you; the parallel structure would have already put us in prison with their lawlessness and their methods, which couldn’t even be found in Rome. We are not that important; however, all the gains of the nation in these 13 years would’ve gone to waste.

Everything is this clear. The road we paced in 13 years was showing us in various examples that the system is not working anymore. Besides, on August 10th, the nation chose Erdoğan as the President. Etyen Mahçupyan was beautifully summarizing why the system got stuck on February 24th; “New Turkey can only rise over the imaginations of today’s people for tomorrow. This implies at looking after our own faiths freely by getting rid of the ideological pincers piled up on us by the past. The law of the guardianship-supporter system is a hindrance that should be removed in this process… Taking a law platform, which has no communal legitimacy, cannot even carry the present time and darkens the future, as a reference is an insult to citizenship and citizens. The essential thing here is to have the new constitution rise over a communal legitimacy that is based on today’s free will…. The creation of a judiciary legitimacy, which will bring the freedom of differentiations and participation in communal willpower down to minimum levels, can only be valid if it’s based on communal legitimacy that is in question. AKP is aspiring this… This is why AK Party wants the new political system."

The nation wants to see Erdoğan as the leader in rulership. From now on, the presidential system is a must. Whether it happens or not; we will find the answer in June 7th elections’ outcome. However, arguing over Erdoğan’s leadership is nonsense and useless. It’s like denying your real mother and father. First Erdoğan, then the rest. No argument starting with “without Erdoğan” can serve goodness. Turkey will be entering the 2023 vision with Erdoğan.

Bülent Arınç, who commented on the 2011 election results that night, said, “AK Party’s votes are Erdoğan’s votes. Everything happened thanks to him. Look at the state of this poor man’s under-eye bags.” Otherwise, nobody was voting for AK Party in 2011 and later on, due to the deputies, mayors or ministers, who disappeared during the December 17-25 days, and didn’t answer their phones, said, “Don’t involve me in this” when asked to make an announcement and were in ruins during the Gezi incidents.

All these arguments we are experiencing nowadays are the pains of the transition process towards the presidential system. We shouldn’t be carried away with the daily rat race. Everything will come and go. The history writes about everyone one way or another. During this process, there is a necessity to act with the mind not the feelings, with logic not hysteria and, most importantly, with intelligence and knowledge.

Faith is the unchanging reality of the humans’ lives. You have to avoid burning up your whole career as you are making your finale. Then you will lament your faith. You will turn into a nothingness like Abdullatif Şener who said, “I know everything about wines, other than it’s taste” and disappeared. You will say, “What have I done?” However, nobody will save you. The ones who are overpraising you today will play tambourines behind your back.
