Why is economic unity important?

There are numerous groups, initiatives, organizations, and alliances around the world where different motivations are evident behind each formation.

The European Union stands out as the most advanced integration in terms of integration globally. Initially emerging as an economic union, the European Union continues to evolve towards political unity.

Another prominent formation is the G20, which brings together developed and developing countries, serving as a significant alliance of leading nations on global issues, primarily focusing on the economy. Although it lacks an official institution and therefore lacks binding authority, the topics discussed at the summits where countries gather are evidently significant.

Another formation is the D8 Economic Cooperation Organization, consisting of eight developing countries. The D8 group, established by Muslim developing countries, prioritizes cooperation in various sectors among its member countries. Additionally, D8 countries are also members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The member countries of the D8 Economic Cooperation Organization are Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Türkiye.

Another important formation is BRICS, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Although there isn't complete economic and political integration, BRICS represents a significant alliance of developing countries in Asia, aiming to increase representation in the global economy, boost trade among member countries, and enhance economic power.

Besides these formations, we can observe various alliances emerging in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. It's widely recognized that the fundamental motivation behind all these formations is primarily economic.

ECONOMIC UNITY IS CRUCIAL

Frankly, the main motivation behind the prominent formations, mergers, and alliances worldwide is to increase trade among countries, promote development, and consequently achieve economic power.

Today, it's evident that the economic and political strength of European Union countries is greatly attributed to their initial establishment of economic unity, followed by collective political action. Therefore, ensuring fair representation in existing global institutions, economic cooperation for political influence, and the need for economic and political integration are indispensable for achieving peace and fair income distribution.
