Our Israel Ontology

Peace with Israel is one of the hardest emotions. Because in the minds of conservatives, Israel is a convicted image. Everyone from Nurettin Topçu to Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, Necmettin Erbakan to Sezai Karakoç, believe that Israel is a Zionist state. Zionists are the greatest enemy for Muslims. Jews are a group that have set Muslims against other Muslims throughout history. Abdullah Bin Seb is the tangible entity of a mentality. Muslims have always experienced the greatest betrayal from Jews! During the Battle of the Trench they sided with the Qureyshi polytheists and tried to kill Prophet Muhammad. They left Prophet Moses alone saying “Go and fight with your God,” and killed many prophets… This all information that have been passed down to Muslims. We can probably call them beliefs. Therefore every Muslim distances themselves from Jews. There were of course Jewish tribes that got along very well with Prophet Muhammad. Jews are called “the people of the book” by Muslims. Jews lived peacefully within the Ottoman Empire. As a matter of fact when they faced death or exile in Spain our ancestors sheltered them. Muslims have two important historical and modern experiences with the Jews. The contemporary image of the Jews are created by Israeli occupation. This is an aggressive, occupant order that kills a Muslim every day, leaves them to starve to death and does not recognize any law and order. Religious groups, Islamists and conservatives have always kept distant from this structure. Everyone from the National Vision Movement, to the Nur Movement, the Naqshiband and other Islamists are distant to this structure. They perceive Israel as a structure that has occupied a sacred Muslim spot and kills their Muslim brothers and sisters. In fact, Sultan Abdülhamid II is known with his exceptional love for Jerusalem. T. Herlz sends the sultan a sack of gold to forget Jerusalem, which the sultan declines and shows him that he is there for Jerusalem.

The religious, conservatives and Islamists have all participated in rallies protesting Israel in some part of their youth years. They have condemned Israel's abusive acts protesting in front of a mosque or at the city center. Therefore they have an ontological or sociological distance toward Israel. This is a memory from the ontology of our holy book and a sociological experience that comes from protesting Israel. Therefore, one of the greatest frustrations was when Erbakan signed an agreement with Israel with the urge of the Feb. 28 supporters. The Feb. 28 supporters spread the word quickly as they knew that this would create tension between Erbakan and his supporters. Thankfully they did not fall for this. The West started to pressure Turkey as they wanted Turkey to be on good terms with Israel all the time. Hence, when Turkey requested weapons and the modernization of weapons from the U.S. during Feb. 28, Turkey was referred to Israel. It is impossible for Turkey's religious groups to get along with Israel. Israel is not a policy or philosophy that can be accepted ontologically.

The greatest Turkish resistance against Israel comes from the religious groups of Turkey, and this will continue to be the case. No one should expect this understanding to change. As the ruling party, the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) is making different reelpolitik agreements with Israel.

A will that is managing the state is moving within the frames of pragmatic approaches. They are taking steps for the benefit and the future of the country. These steps are consistent. But no one should expect these agreements to change the way people perceive Israel. No one will accept Israel as a friend. No one will accept Zionism. Because neither politics nor anything else has the power to effect the ontological field. In conclusion we can cooperate with Israel within the scope of politics but this will never be an agreement in the ontological field.
