Remembering the traps set while entering a new stage in the fight against FETÖ

It was not right to interpret some statements as “The fight against the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) has come to an end.” That is why in the previous column it was said: “There are FETÖ members who are being protected. The fight against them should last for 40 years.” (Yeni Şafak, March 27, 2018)

There are many indicators showing that the fight against FETÖ is not yet over. For example, the decision to detain contracted officers and sergeants in the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) was made with the operation launched in Konya yesterday.

It is stated that those who were detained with this decision had been put in the TAF by FETÖ, that they had stayed in student houses of the organization during their education in middle school, high school, and university years, took on various tasks in the university structure of the organization, primarily as student representatives, as well as in privates areas.

So, the act of purging the TAF from FETÖ is not over yet. It is not possible to think that it would be over in such a short time, either. Because we are not talking about a conventional organization; we are talking about an organization that takes any form and consists of layers.

Moreover, during the operations in March alone, over 2,000 have been detained and 650 have been arrested.

‘The target in the fight against FETÖ are the cyptos, and big brothers and sisters’

The title of the piece written by the Türkiye Newspaper Ankara Representative Batuhan Yaşar yesterday tells us something: “2,000 new ByLock users have been discovered …” This is the title.

There are many details in the article. I will mention only a few:

“(…) ‘The real criminals are free’... You must have heard this statement... There might be those who are free today…We are facing an organization which has no end... I wish it could be plucked by its roots and thrown away… Do not worry... Let us be a little more patient...

“(…) There was a very significant meeting in Ankara last week... Under the chairmanship of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor Yüksel Kocaman... All of the district prosecutors were in that meeting, too... New decisions were made… Calling it a new fighting method might be wrong... It is more correct to say ‘A new stage has been entered in the fight against FETÖ”... Mr. Yüksel revealed that Adil Öksüz was called from the U.S. consulate…

“A special initiative has been launched these days for ‘crypto FETÖ members, big brothers and sisters’... ByLock investigations have not been completed yet... (…) As messages were investigated, new ByLock users were discovered... (…) In this way, 2,000 new ByLock users were located...

“Final preparations are being conducted for the operations against those 2,000 people.

“FETÖ has roots everywhere...

“The fight is not over... It is continues… (…)” (Batuhan Yaşar Türkiye newspaper, Mar. 29, 2018)

Let this information stay here for now…

Didn’t the poker faces conduct an operation under the pretext of confession?

In this column, I drew attention to the traps that would be set in the fight against FETÖ numerous times. I said that some of those who set the traps were “poker faces,” namely those who masqueraded as confessors. I drew attention to the testimonies that were given under the name of “confession,” which aimed to “dilute,” “guide” and “divert the FETÖ cases to another direction.

That was what İbrahim Okur, former Head of the First Chamber of the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors and Deputy Head Ahmet Hamsici did.

In this column, I made a warning earlier saying, “Do not prepare an indictment based on the testimonies of these poker faces: prioritize other evidence and testimonies.” (May/June 2017 Yeni Şafak)

For example, FETÖ suspect İbrahim Okur implied in his “confession” that then-Prime Minister Erdoğan knew that Nedim Şener and Ahmet Şık were arrested during the Ergenekon investigations. Fortunately, there were first-hand witnesses of the events and their testimonies refuted Okur’s.

The method that especially FETÖ members within TAF have used recently to save themselves is the process of “acting as if a confessor.” Thus, they hoped to be effective in TAF again. Fortunately, they ruined their own traps.

Let this stay here too…

Referring to pre-December 17/25 is a trap too

Remember again that I wrote pieces in this column saying that investigations should be carried out regarding “the political leg of FETÖ.” In addition, I drew attention to the fact that FETÖ terrorists were running a dangerous infrastructure initiative under the mask of “operations against the political pillar of the organization.”

I indicated that the trap which was set to invalidate FETÖ cases and bring the fight to a standstill this time would be “forgetting when FETÖ was started to be considered as a terrorist organization and to include some relations before Dec. 17/25 into those cases.” Also, I included the admonitions of a few legal experts in this column that “everybody can be tried as a FETÖ suspect by making small additions to the current indictments.”

It grabs my attention that the Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is, all of a sudden, is making statements starting with “political leg of FETÖ” these days. In fact, he was unable to slow down and made statements accusing President Erdoğan. And Kılıçdaroğlu supposedly challenged Erdoğan by saying, “Let him sue me and I will prove what I say.” Lawyers of President Erdoğan filed a claim for compensation for Kılıçdaroğlu’s statements worth TL 250,000. We will follow the judicial process.

However, it does not escape our notice that Kılıçdaroğlu persistently says “Let him sue me.” I think this is another trap.

I think the reason Kılıçdaroğlu makes insistent moves regarding the pre-Dec. 17/25 period is because he tries to exploit the vacuum in the jurisdiction.

As a new stage has been entered in the fight against FETÖ, I believe the last move of Kılıçdaroğlu is not a coincidence and that he acts on someone’s prompts.

We are following the events.
