US's strategic target is Turkey

Does U.S. President Donald Trump really know what he wants? How much impact and authority does Trump have in U.S. politics?

The U.S. civil war is ongoing as the Evangelicals and hawks make more way by the day. The White House is now surrounded by those who are ready to risk the great war that will wreak havoc all over the world.

In response to the question, "Does Trump know what's going on", we just continue to watch his behavior reminiscent to that of a TV show host.

Under these circumstances, the theory of those who defend that "If we hand over Pastor Andrew Brunson, who is under house arrest in İzmir, to convince Trump, if we made a gesture, relations between Turkey and the U.S. will mend," is left hanging in the air.

Because, neither Trump nor those of his likes are near or among the team determining the U.S.'s strategic goals.

The U.S.'s foreign policy included, strategy development centers have made a plan for our region.

This plan has been being implemented since 1990. I said it numerous times: former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had said "The borders of 22 countries in the Middle East will change," and had stated that this also included Turkey.

There has been no change in the U.S.'s strategy regarding our region since then. They are applying their strategy step-by-step. Even though there are tactical changes at times, the strategy continues.

This is why President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan says, "We have seen game, we are resisting." That is why he says, "I declare mobilization." That is why he says, "We will not allow an operation in our country." That is why he cries out to the top of his voice, "One state, one homeland, one flag, one nation." That is why he refers to the past saying, "The 16 stars on the presidential flag are not for nothing; each one represents the state we founded," and tells those who look down, "So, we are reminding you."

Until U.S. decision makers change their strategies, we are going to continue to encounter various attacks. Today they attack through the dollar; in the past they attacked through terrorist organizations. They tried to destroy Turkey through the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Turkey's resistance and determination has helped it remain as an island of safety and stability in the region.

After taking all these facts into consideration, saying that "Relations will improve if we handed over Brunson. Everything would just get back on track", means the matter has not been understood.

The issue is neither Brunson, nor Trump, or a few other things.

The issue is Turkey's division, which is also one of the U.S.'s strategic goals

Have we still not understood this?

We have no other choice but to resist and fight.

Syria's final war in Idlib

Will there be a final war in Idlib? Will the Syrian civil war end with the showdown of the big bosses in Idlib? Or will there be a major massacre in Idlib in front of the eyes of the world?

Will events similar to those in Aleppo happen in Idlib this time?

It seems like we will receive the answer to almost all of these questions about Syria in the upcoming days.

It appears that Russia, Syria, Iran and the U.S. are ready to settle scores in Idlib prior to the Turkey, Russia and Iran meetings to take place in Tehran on Sept. 7.

The armed elements in Idlib also seem to want to fight "to the end," just like they did in Afghanistan, Pakistan and, as a matter of fact, in Iraq, instead of surrendering or laying down their arms.

Turkey's attitude in the meantime is to "conduct diplomacy efforts" and "prevent human tragedy."

I had the opportunity at the reception marking Victory Day on Aug. 30, which was held at the Beştepe Presidential Complex, to speak with the head of an actively running nongovernmental organization.

According to him: "The situation in Idlib is a lot worse than what is being reflected in the media." What's more is that he says in the case of a likely intervention, thousands of civilians will die and hundreds of thousands will be displaced.

It is the same source that says the "final war in Syria is going to be in Idlib."

Under these circumstances, any negativity to take place in Idlib, the "most critical of de-escalation zones" - where Turkey has more than 10 0bservation points - will reflect on Turkey.

Will Turkey open its border? Will people fleeing the conflict be accepted in Turkey unconditionally? There will be armed elements, people affiliated with terrorist groups among those fleeing; how will they be weeded out? These are all a mystery.

The one thing we do know is that the final battle of the Syrian war will be in Idlib. This is where scores will be settled.

Meanwhile, there is also information that the Syrian regime has turned toward Idlib expecting Turkey to focus on its internal matters as a result of the economic war launched through the dollar, and hence disregard the Syria issue.

Tehran and Damascus want to collapse the predominantly Sunni Idlib, which is under Turkey's watch, with a fait accompli. In response to this, the U.S., wanting an advantage against Russia, wants an excuse to be on the field in Idlib.

Amid all these plans, Turkey still wants to prevent a great tragedy.

There are a few more things that can be done.

The operation to get armed forces to somehow drop their weapons is at the top of the list.

The second is to stop Damascus through Iran and Russia.

And what's most important is the diplomacy traffic that will eliminate the U.S.'s excuses to turn Idlib into a bloodbath with a fait accompli or an excuse.

It is tough for Iran, which wants Bashar Assad to stay, and Russia, which wants the regime to stay.

But it is toughest for Turkey.

Let's see how the final battle will conclude.

May God help the poor, the oppressed, and the civilians.
