We are going to enter the east of Euphrates and you will watch helplessly!

“To what extent is it possible to create a ‘safe zone’ to the east of Euphrates?”

Now it is time to take up this question.

To tell the truth, the ultimate goal of the agreement made in Idlib with Russia is to end the illegal formation east of Euphrates in Syria too.

That is why, among those who do their worst to prevent the Idlib agreement being implemented there are some states and some people among us.

Unfortunately, some of those who want things become complicated and the stabilization that want in Idlib would not took place are among us.

Which is why the suspects of a possible provocation in Idlib will be around us. Let it be said.

We will be following what the terrorist groups in Idlib will do or how much of the ten-point agreement will followed throughout the process.

Also, we will be following what kind of discourse some circles in Turkey use and what will they write regarding the Idlib and Syria issues.

Anyway, let’s move on.

The east of Euphrates or the Syrian Kurds issue

Turkey’s determination regarding the east of Euphrates is being expressed recently at the highest level.

This being the case, we need to recall the ethnic structure of Syria.

There are regions east of Euphrates where the Kurds are the majority. This is correct.

Hasakah is one of the most important ones among them.

Hasakah is a huge city. It has important districts like Qamishli. Most of its population is ethnically Kurdish.

A portion of Syrian Kurds live in the towns and villages near the Turkey border like Qamishli, Ras-al-Ayn, and Ayn-al Arab (Kobane).

There is a great deal of data available regarding the ethnic structure of our region since the time of Ziya Gökalp. Some of this data was being discussed during the Syrian civil war.

One of these discussions was no doubt about how many Kurds live in which region?

I found out after my readings that Kurds are not the majority in the east of the Euphrates where the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terror corridor was created with the hand of the U.S. This region is where Kurds live but they are not the majority.

Those who can’t even stand Kurds who don’t think like they do

However, those who are taking up arms claim that this region is entirely Kurdish. If we remember that the terrorist organization cannot even stand Kurds who do not think like them, we would know that is not the case.

Just like the PYD/YPG-PKK are not the only representatives of Syrian Kurds, it is also a reality that the regions under their control are not entirely Kurdish.

Likewise, if we remember the Syrian Kurds who were forced to migrate to Northern Iraq and to Turkey (this forced migration was not because of the regime but because of the PYD/YPG PKK threat) we can have a better understanding of the situation.

The Kurds’ existence or Kurds being the majority in the north of Syria is not a problem for Turkey, just like the Kurdish population in Mardin, Van, Hakkari, Şanliurfa is not a problem.

But the thing is that the PKK terrorist organizationwanted to create a corridor north of Syria along Turkey’s border with the support of the U.S. by taking advantage of the Syrian civil war. They found support in Turkey as well. We realized in time that the U.S. wants to reach the heart of Middle East by establishing a satellite state, an outpost. It even wants to realize this goal by taking land from Turkey.

The fact that there was an attempt to create cantons in Turkey just like they did in Syria by taking advantage of the political atmosphere after June 7, proves this.

The majority of Syrian Kurds are abroad

Then, what is the reality in northern Syria or in the east of Euphrates?

Firstly, the majority of Syrian Kurds live in the cities.

For instance, in Damascus, at the foothills of the Qasioun Mountain where the tomb of Ibn al-Arabî is located… or in Aleppo or in Mosul!

The ethnic structure in northern Syria is very diverse. There are Kurds, Arabs, Turkmens, and Yazidis.

Almost more than 40 percent of Syrian Kurds were living in the cities before the war broke out. Now they are outside the country.

For instance, among those who immigrated to Turkey, there is a considerable Kurdish population. The numbers are perhaps over 500,000.

I wrote it here once. One morning when I got out my home, I ran into a middle-aged Syrian who said hello to me and walked away, then turned back and said, “I was watching you when I was in Aleppo. How nice it is to see you. I am one of the Kurds of Aleppo.”

I don’t want to bore you with numbers. But those who are curious can look it up on the internet. There is research that gives information about Syria’s ethnic structure village by village.

Let’s move on.

The PYD/YPG PKK terror organization which carries out ethnic cleansing and even banishes people of their same race just because they do not think like them does not have a chance to be permanent in the north of Syria. And they do not have a political base in the region either.

This is not possible despite the arms aid, mentorship and patronage of the U.S.

Well, can Turkey create a safe zone east of the Euphrates?

Of course it can do this.

I am saying this knowing that there are numerous American bases in the region… And being aware of the weapons the terrorist organization possesses…

Just the way Operation Olive Branch was carried out in Afrin…

Again, just the way the fortified territories were taken down in a great struggle in Afrin.

With the same determination, the same method can be applied to the east of the Euphrates, and “safe zones” can be created.

I almost hear some of you saying, “The consequences will be heavy.” This reminds me of the attitude of those who were saying, “Don’t ever enter Afrin” and “What are you going to do in Qandil?”

Don’t you see, if we don’t crack down on the east of Euphrates, the terror there eventually will crackdown on Turkey?

We are going to enter the east of Euphrates and you will watch helplessly!
