Campaign to contain Turkey: We must set a new game

The Gezi Protests and the December 17 coup attempt were two major demolition plots devised by those trying to prevent the “2023 Re-establishment” project of Turkey from materializing. In one of these, they wanted to bring sectarian identities to the fore to replace ethnic conflict with sectarian conflict.

Organizations were arranged and the populace was manipulated. They had planned to internally suffocate and choke Turkey, which had opened itself up to the world and had a strong emergence to make it a place, and bring it into a shape where the country would not have been unable to raise its head to look over its borders due to long-lasting chaos.

This was an exterior interference. It would have been recorded in our political history as a foreign-controlled domestic insurrection, and if they had succeeded, perhaps Turkey would have been molded into a much different, weaker and controllable country. In short, a multi-national war had been waged against the New Turkey project. This was characteristically different than the crises we had experienced in the past. This time, beyond the idea of keeping Turkey under control, there was the aim of punishing a country which was challenging. The prominence of a new power and actor must have been stopped. The resurrection attempt was an interference geared toward the future, rather than the issues of the past and originated from the idea of hindering the future.

SECTARIAN, NOT ETHNIC;  PARALLEL, NOT A STATE

When they weren't successful, when Turkey stood up and expressed its determination to stand up and be strong, the December 17 plot became activated. This time, instead of using the streets, they had set up the game through the system by scattered staff serving the plot. The goal was the same again: They wanted to stop Turkey. This time, like the last time they targeted the pioneers of the New Turkey Project. All senior administrators and political and economic circles who support them would be cut out. The old style of politics and pro-tutelage staff would take the government in hand and sabotage the rise of Turkey.

December 17, by its nature, was not a problem caused by Turkey’s soft spots. They were trying to put Turkey under a hypothec for the future

against the great project which was trying to build the Turkey of the future. This too was a multinational plot and a conservative base was horribly trapped into this. Their top managers wrote the chronicle of treason for the plots of others against their own country and made their case in a suicidal manner.

Such an example never existed in the history of Turkey. Those who wanted to replace ethnic conflict with sectarian conflict now wanted to replace the state with another state organization. They became the hit men of a state structure, which would leave Turkey under a hundred more years of tutelage, as some were trying to establish a free and strong Turkey after a hundred years. The December 17 Operation, too, will be recorded as such an exterior intervention in our political history.

THE SAME PLOT AS THE FEBRUARY 28 POST-MODERN COUP

In both attempts, Turkey was forced to face the fate that it did with the February 28 intervention. Because the February 28 intervention was a plot of the far-right in Israel and the U.S., directed towards the prevention of societal participation in the realm of government and the prevention of the sprouting of a new national stance.

As for the Gezi protests and December 17, they are an interference to defeat and punish Turkey which had gained strength, and where the nation is rising and this time the scope was much wider.

It’s not over, they will try new things. Their investment in domains which they hoped would interfere in the scope of political power was unsuccessful. It is very difficult for them to reach a breakout, which can stop the existing pace. Societal support decreased and those circles became unable to produce new things. The Turkish society embraced the discourse of “New Turkey.” It internalized change and grew stronger through change. It now adopts New Turkey and does not withdraw its support, despite domestic and external coercion and negative expressions.

Let’s not discard the fact that the AK Party is the only political movement which produces new projects despite its long stay in power. It is obvious that the traditional opposition has burned out and is unable to produce new projects. The launching projects of the narrow political circles outside of the traditional opposition always ended up in disappointment. In that case, there is not much they can do in this field.

ERDOĞAN REALIZED THAT THREAT

Sabotaging the Resolution Process was a good option. Turkey would have had to rebuild everything all over again if they succeeded. But the process, too, is on the rails despite all attacks. It comes to the forefront as the first and only unifying model at a time when the region was miserable. Achieving results here also seems difficult against the determined political stance.

The paralyzation of the economy and taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the global economic crisis and attacking Turkey’s economy, which remains standing despite everything, would have been a pretty good option. Economic dependency could have been turned against Turkey and political results could have been gained to achieve the goals. As a matter of fact, even geopolitical calculations could have been made over the economic crisis and Turkey’s origins directed towards the region could have been targeted.

This option is still on the table. They are trying it. They are on full alert for the opportunity to have a new political design by paralyzing the economy to strike a blow to mass political support. President Erdoğan probably realized the threat as he makes warnings in this regard. Can they succeed? I highly doubt it. This plot, too, will explode in their faces.

CONTAINMENT OF TURKEY FROM THE OUTSIDE

Still the real blow comes from another direction. They may even be considered as partially successful in this regard. It is an area that requires Turkey to immediately open its eyes and take action: wearing down Turkey’s hand beyond its borders, reducing its influence and bring it to a position where it will not be able to look beyond the Anatolian borders. With the coup d’etat in Egypt, Iranian control in Iraq and ISIL in Syria, they want to erase the impact of Turkey in the region.

Turkey supports democracy in Egypt, they support the military coup. Turkey supports the legitimate opposition in Syria, and in the face of this, they come up with a project like ISIL. Turkey makes efforts to have normalization in Iraq, while they put it completely under Iran’s control and dissociate the country.

Perhaps a much more radical form of the intervention geared towards the interior is done outside by forming an anti-Turkey front in its immediate surroundings. With this, their wars with Turkey slipped towards the outside. We have failed to bring it down on the inside, so let us at least block its way outside and reduce its area. You see: this is a geopolitical conflict and will become more severe with time.

Turkey has to escape the domestic chaos and give new breath to the regional equation as soon as possible. It has to take new steps, develop new initiatives, and overcome interventions geared to suffocate it and take steps to say stop to the containment movement that is conducted throughout the region.

CREATING POLITICAL BLINDNESS, STOPPING THE "SECOND STEP"

We have the necessary power, dynamism, societal support, strong leadership, political vision and perspective for this. The goal of those hopelessly investing in unbundling efforts targeting President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Davutoğlu is to create a blindness of political power to disable that strong leadership and vision. I don’t know if I need to tell you that this, too, is one of those disintegration scenarios I listed above.

But don’t you take heed of all of those negative statements, those who are marketing pessimism, and those who have sold their spirits to their pro-tutelage masters. Turkey is a really powerful country. It will overcome all of those now and in the future, like it did in the past. Every single game that they set will explode in their faces one by one.

Because this is the struggle of the century. World War I was the biggest loss in our history. The Turkish Republic is the first step of a new era of building. The “second step” is being taken now and this is why this issue is of great importance.

Like it was in the first two ones, the third war also has an extensive front. Therefore, every opposing stance at home and the region is multinational for us. A strong step is necessary to prick the bubble of the new game that was set up by this multinational front just south of Turkey, and the containment movement. Currently the struggle has slipped this way. As a result, Turkey needs to give a strong response to the new anti-Turkey equation that is being established in the region right after the elections –before it’s too late - and it has to set up a new game.
