Toppling the government was not the only aim of the parallel organization, which placed wiretaps on, tracked and prepared reports about the prime minister, cabinet members, businessmen, media executives, writers, opinion leaders and civil society organizations. (Parallel organization is a term used to refer to the Fethullah Gülen-led movement.)
We were mistaken in thinking that. We thought they were making preparations to launch a coup to topple the Tayyip Erdoğan administration since they could no longer bend it to their will. We knew that they had carried out detailed planning to this end, devised their plots and set the coup process in action on Dec. 17, 2013.
According to them, the government would survive just three days. To them it was “done and dusted.” Those now protesting their innocence and carrying out international campaigns with their discourse on media freedom knew even back then of the lists prepared about those to be imprisoned. They had received strong backing from the United States. They were being supported by those who couldn’t stomach the fact that Erdoğan and his team were opening up to the world on the one hand, while also transforming it into a country loyal to its roots on the other hand.
It wasn’t just mere support either. A joint project was being carried out and they were being provided with the state’s most confidential secrets.
But we thought the plans were just limited to Turkey. That they would only reshape the state in Turkey again, draw it back into the pro-Atlantic fold, make it a country confined within the borders of Anatolia again, and later even make the country shrink through creating Kurdish and Alevi disassociation.
PLANS WERE FAR GRAVER
This wasn’t the entire issue though. The issue was to create a scenario for Turkey resembling that in Egypt, Ukraine, Syria, or even Iraq. Just like the putschists of Feb. 28, 1997, they would sell out the country to Israel and neoconservatives in the United States, and let it be dragged all over the place. This is why they were working together, and this is why they provided them with the recordings of the thousands of people they had placed wiretaps on.
The Gezi project was an attempt to create a Ukraine. The heart-rending current state of that country is clear for all to see. Dec. 17 was an attempt to turn Turkey into an Egypt and Erdoğan into a Mohammed Morsi. The heart-rending state Egypt finds itself in currently is also clear for all to see.
All of Europe cooperated to bury the attempt at democracy in Egypt. Although even now they unashamedly still try to sell the world the criteria for democracy and freedom. They couldn’t topple Turkey, they destroyed Ukraine. They couldn’t topple Turkey, they finished Egypt.
These relationships become clearer as the investigations into the parallel coup attempt deepen, and the webs behind the visible tips reveal themselves. But hold tight, far graver dimensions of this issue exist. A much larger regional calculation was made.
LATEST SCENARIO IS A TURKEY-IRAN WAR
The grounds were being created to push Turkey to wage war with Iran, and public opinion was being conditioned for this. We used to think that ideological or sectarian differences lay behind the Gülen community’s anti-Iran sentiments, but it turns out that isn’t the case and plans were being made to pit these two countries against each other based on this animosity.
The mastermind that makes decisions about the region knows very well that these two countries going to war will ensure that the Middle East is in no condition to get back to its feet for another century, and tasked the community with the job of readying the Turkish public and state for this project.
The truths connected to this major calculation come to light each passing day as investigations go deeper, operations are carried out, and evidence and documents are revealed.
The operation conducted yesterday for instance, like the previous ones, was directed at those who placed wiretaps and recorded the conversations of the state leadership, ranging from its top-level officials to the rank and file. It was revealed that all members of the Council of Ministers were systematically eavesdropped upon, in a new recording unearthed during retrospective investigations.
Only one member was exempt and that was İdris Naim Şahin.
Other than him, wiretaps were placed on all ministers in a coordinated manner, and preparations were made to carry out a coup. It was already common knowledge that everyone, including the president and prime minister, had wiretaps placed on them, but this new recording is being described as a finding that shows they were preparing to carry out a coup.
THEY INVENTED A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION
The issue here is not just about placing wiretaps. They considered the state’s senior executives and other figures they deemed to be in the same framework as part of an organization, decided they had close ties to Iran, fabricated a plot and drew up lists.

They linked these persons to terrorism and fabricated plots that would see them accused of espionage. They used this as a launch pad for preparations to show “Turkey as a country that sponsors terrorism.”
Their activities were to the extent that these persons would be depicted as the perpetrators of terrorist attacks. The parallel organization invented an organization and tried to depict the figures it had targeted as being members of that organization. It would even hold them responsible for terrorist attacks outside Turkey. In this way it would both eliminate those it had targeted in the country and also create the image in the world that Turkey sponsors terrorism.
Think about it; these people invent a terrorist organization and draw up an organizational chart for it. They show people who they have targeted -- but who actually have nothing to do with it -- as members of that organization and use it as the basis for their legal and security-related preparations.
These are such devious methods that even the devil would fail to devise.
THEY STRUCK AT TURKEY, NOT IRAN!
What kind of task could have been delegated to them by their masters that led them to sacrifice these state officials composed of people from Anatolia, create a scenario based on them, and attempt to implement it with their support. These cadres, embedded within the state’s power structures, played a very dangerous game against Turkey. They invented terrorist organizations and tried to topple the state via terror. They would also use this to hold responsible those they had targeted and destroy them.
Who knows, perhaps they had even planned terrorist attacks to succeed in this. This might perhaps be revealed in time… We, of course, don’t know what types of attacks they planned via these organizations, or whether they even carried out any of these attacks.
They would establish an empire of fear in Turkey, and in return, they would transform the region into an inferno based on the wishes of the mastermind who had granted them power. Iran’s expansionist policies throughout the region are clear to see and everyone grasps it. But even by proceeding on the basis of this reality, they struck at Turkey instead of Iran!
