President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is going to announce today the "good news that will usher in a new era in Turkey." The whole nation is fixated on this as it waits for this announcement today.

His announcement that he would be delivering good news itself was good news. It led to a wave of joy among the public and gave rise to an excitement across the whole country. Its reflections on the economy were immediate.

In fact, it would not be wrong to say that the whole world is waiting for the news. Every country that is a side in Turkey’s fight against terrorism, geopolitical power showdown in the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, the Aegean, Libya, Syria, and northern Iraq are waiting for this announcement today.

Erdoğan making this announcement saying, “Just as this nation rejected the Treaty of Sevres a century ago, we will not bow down to the modern Sevres being pushed on [us] in the Eastern Mediterranean today either,” reveals the magnitude of the good news.

Similar to Erdoğan, Finance Minister Berat Albayrak also described the enormity of the news as “axis-changing.” Clearly, the “axis” mentioned here is not the East-West axis but the power axis.

In this sense, what will change the axis? Moves, developments that will ensure and accelerate a country’s rise in the economic, political power, and regional and global power equation fields will change it.

Considering these statements, the shifts in the global power map, the new power structuring in our region, I am guessing it will lead to critical geopolitical tremors.

Turkey was already changing the rules of the game.

In this respect, it had become the world’s most dynamic country. It carried over the plans and claims of centuries to the present, re-identified its own future, radically changed its regional and power perception, launched national mobilization in the economic field, and became one of the main actors in the 21st century’s global power equation.

Each one of these were already “good news.” They were all history-changing steps that set a new path for this country, that started a new rise.

Turkey ended the project that had been keeping it under control through terrorism for four decades. It spoiled the plans to threaten, suffocate and siege from Iraq and Syria. It struck heavy blows on the plans to corner it in the East Mediterranean, to confine it within its shores from the Aegean.

President Erdoğan had ushered in a new era with all this, ensuring the continuity of the Seljuk-Ottoman-Republic of Turkey states. He was building a new rising period; he was leading this nation and its political gene.

He was striving to explain this great march with statements, words, concepts deeply embedded in the past centuries.

This was the real reason behind the fight. A new political identity above all political identities, a “Turkey axis” was being built. This axis was a region-shaping, history-making political wave. It had to be stopped and taken under control.

The “Topple Erdoğan and stop Turkey” project was launched for this purpose.

A front was established in the Mediterranean (the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-Saudi Arabia axis) was established for this plan. The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Daesh were released on Turkey in Iraq and Syria to fulfill this plan.

A coup, invasion plan was attempted on July 15, 2016, through the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) to for this plan. France and Greece-led war positions were formed in the Mediterranean and the Aegean for this plan.

Political alliances were established within for this plan.

Turkey launched a relentless fight against all these on numerous fronts.

It was never going to give up, pull back, surrender, lose at tables, accept the definitions of the West or their partners in our region and, most importantly, it was never going to defend itself at the zero point of its own borders.

Turkey entered the region once again after a century and started to lay its own maps on the table against those drawing new maps. Just as it rejected the Treaty of Sevres, when the time came, it would be doing the same with the Treaty of Lausanne – which took it hostage.

Today, we are waiting for the good news that will further strengthen the march towards this rise. Immediately after Erdoğan’s announcement, all eyes turned to the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. It has been claimed that large reserves of energy resources (natural gas) was found.

It has been claimed that Turkey, a country that managed to make itself an energy hub through other countries’ energy resources until now, is now going to produce its own resources. In fact, some have even said that the energy reserves are enough to last a century.

Just as he shook the regional power map of the energy equation in the East Mediterranean, Erdoğan’s news today is going to cause a similar impact. It is going to strike extremely heavy blows against the plan aimed at “stopping Turkey.”

The “Turkey axis” has truly been established now.

Let us see on which countries’ behalf the opposition front, which has been attacking Turkey whenever it achieves success, will take the stage this time. Let us see what sort of discourse the front they formed within will use today.

Our country’s biggest weakness, greatest misfortune is that the opposition has lost its national identity, that it attached itself to the West’s tutelage axis against the “Turkey axis.”
