This letter is written with the words that unravel from the consciences of the people you lead.
These words were molded by the pain that the poor, sad and heavy-hearted Muslims carry in their hearts.
We have turned to words to bring you our anger because nobody hears our repressed voice.
When you gather in Istanbul today, maybe you will read this letter and understand what the people you lead think and feel.
We haven’t been able to relieve the pain of Israel’s active and the U.S.’s official occupation on Jerusalem. We went out on the streets, we screamed, we got angry, we revolted, but we couldn’t stop 20 Israeli soldiers blindfolding and beating 14-year-old Juneidi and aircrafts killing children in Gazza.
Did you notice that there was the same anger on the streets of all countries from Pakistan to Morocco and from Turkey to Yemen? While the hearts of the people you lead beat with this pain for the occupied Jerusalem, we are not so sure that you are as angry and upset as we are.
You need to act as statesmen who are calm, who are concerned about the interests of their own country and who use diplomacy without emotions. We understand.
States need to think geopolitically. We agree.
Still, we don’t condemn you for not shedding tears or having restless nights in despair like us.
In fact, we expect you to do what is required by geopolitics and international affairs. That means we want you to look after the interests of your country and people. Just like the U.S.
If you stay silent on Jerusalem, nobody will say anything if Israel and the U.S. occupy Lebanon, Gaza, Egypt, Syria or Jordan. Then who do you think will save your country from occupation?
These are the realities of geopolitics you believe in.
But there are also the realities of the religion you believe in.
Staying silent against this occupation means that we all deny ourselves, our faith and ideals. When the judgement day you believe in comes and you are asked “What did you do regarding the occupation of Jerusalem as the leader of your nation,” are you going to say “Allah, I took a decision of condemnation”?
We do what you, the leaders of 57 Islamic countries, cannot do. We are united, in solidarity, and we are brothers once again.
Look at the state of our countries which once were places of peace. There’s misery, poverty, ignorance, hunger, terror and war in all of them. Our brothers die every day. For what? To what end? Who’s doing this?
We are in this state because of our rulers not because of the U.S., Israel or another country. We destroyed our countries with our own hands. We burned down our fairytale-like cities and killed our beautiful children. We are going to carry this pain and shame for a lifetime.
But when will we stop this?
Why can’t you unite? Why do you prefer dividing and clashing with each other even when your people are under threat? Who is stopping this? What is your excuse for not creating Islamic unity?
You can’t admit the ugly truth, can you?
But remember;
If Muslim governments don’t unite, Muslim nations will.
