The Turkish - EU Summit: Incompetent Europe

First of all, we should know that if Europe did not have refugee problems, then it would not need Turkey, thus the summit would not have occurred.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was the first to say that the refugee crisis could not be solved without Turkey. She was criticized in her country and by the European media for this reason. Around the same time, the media, financial and political centers, which had campaigned against Turkey since the Gezi Park incidents, were raving about the PKK and Kurdish problems. Just as this was happening, they were not happy with Turkey suddenly appearing as a savior. They were happy with continuously spreading lies that Turkey was supporting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

By the way, do not presume that Merkel is head over heels about Turkey, or Germany remembered our historic friendship. Besides being the strongest opposition to Turkey entering the European Union, Germany is still stirring trouble in Turkey via the media, intelligence and terrorist organizations.

Why isn't Turkey's theory discussed?

Turkey, housing more than 2 million refugees and knowing the genetics of the Middle East, is arguing (although a little weakly) a theory: “We will never be able to solve this problem without eliminating the causes of the refugee crisis.”

I asked a friend of mine, present at the table during Merkel's visit to Turkey, whether they discussed this theory with Merkel. My friend said, “Neither Merkel, nor any EU member country wants to discuss this reality.” I found out that it was not discussed during the last summit either. Isn't it strange?

The refugees pushing at Europe's borders are from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Yemen. These people are forced to leave their homelands because of the chaos and war created by Russia/Iran/Syria. By overlooking the problem, the US and EU countries are contemplating watching Turkey, Russia, Iran and other Muslim countries crush each other.

The truth of the matter is different. Terrorism has an ecosystem. This system can shake Europe to the extent of bringing forth the Paris attacks and the refugee crisis. Europe is not experiencing a problem because it is not realizing this reality. There are two issues here: The first being that Europe does not intend to solve the problem, and secondly, that they are simply incompetent.

The Summit is as barren as the EU's vision

Now, let us examine the Turkey-EU Summit.

Apparently they will be giving Turkey 3 billion euros, which Turkey will use for employment, housing, et cetera. And this will be spread out over two years. The EU will decide how it will be paid and what it will be used for.

Then, the EU will be taking in 400,000 refugees, which it will be choosing itself, while Turkey accepts the readmission conditions, and the EU will be granted the right to send back any refugees coming from Turkey it does not approve of. What will happen to these refugees? There is an expression going around: “They will be sent to where they came from.” How can these people be sent back to Syria? Can this be explained logically?

Another decision made during the summit was that a new chapter might possibly be opened in the first quarter of 2016. Turkey proposed to “write down these chapters” but this proposal was turned down. Apparently the committee was going to decide on this, meaning, they can choose the most irrelevant chapters. Note that the opening of chapters, which is a normal process for every member, has turned into means of political bargaining against Turkey.

The visa exemption issue is a complicated one. Turkey will sign the readmission agreement, fulfill the conditions, and then the committee will sit and decide on the outcome. That is to say, if the refugee crisis continues, all these can be used to blackmail Turkey.

Europe is unaware that it has lost its reputation

In sum, this is what the EU-Turkey Summit means: Turkey should stem the flow of refugees, accept the ones we send back and in return we will give 3 billion euros and the opportunity to discuss (not finalize) visa-free travel and 34 other articles usually closed for discussion.

If this had happened 10 years ago, it might have caused excitement in Turkey, but not now. They still think we would die a thousand deaths for a visa-free EU.

Europe has applied such terrible, malevolent and unsuccessful policies towards Turkey and the Muslim world that even if we were offered EU membership, it would not create a stir anymore. The adoration of Europe has ended in the Muslim world and Turkey, yet the EU is not aware of this.

One of the significant results of this summit is that an atmosphere of communication has been re-founded with the EU. Europe will at least find the grounds to discuss Turkey's theses.

The refugee crisis and the Russia crisis have shown that there is no Middle East without Turkey, there is no EU without Turkey, and there is no NATO without Turkey. Yet, I do not think they would have understood this at the summit. Fortunately, they have decided to organize two summits a year.

Let us look at ourselves. We will never feel at ease if we are not a powerful Turkey.
