The famous phrase attributed to Joseph Goebbels, the propaganda minister of the Nazi dictator Hitler, regarding the technique of the Big Lie is as follows: "If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed."

"During World War II, in 1943, the director of the Strategic Services Office of the United States (predecessor of the CIA), William Donovan, approached Harvard psychologist Walter Langer and asked him to create a psychological profile of Adolf Hitler.

Langer formed a team of psychologists and researchers.

The team had only five months to produce their findings; during this time, they utilized over 1,000 pages of background research and interviewed significant informants who personally knew Hitler.
