When mentioning another world...

Actually, it would be even better if Cemil Bayık makes more statements.

Previously he had asked for the United Nations to be an observer in the Kurdish incident.

Now, he had said, “We might accept it, if the USA becomes an observer in the Resolution Process”, and added, “As far as we are concerned, the course of events are going in that direction.”

He had made this statement to the Der Standard newspaper in Austria.

The newspaper and statements cannot help but remind us of the Berlin Conference.

The renowned conference that softened the heavy terms, which Ottomans had been obliged to sign following the 1893 Battle they lost.

According to the rumors,  Abdülhamit II, who had recently taken the throne, didn’t really want a Russian Czar war; however, following the state officials’ and some commanders’ assertive persistence, the war broke out. Great Britain, who wanted to prevent Russia’s excessive power-up, had gathered this conference in order to reduce the damage of this defeat. From now on, the great countries would be more involved in the matter of Armenians, who were all Ottoman citizens and living in the East, and the Greeks (of Turkish Nationality), who were living in the West.

The first difference between that day and today is; no one has the intention to enter such an adventurous war anymore. Likewise, Prime Minister Davutoğlu’s “They wanted to drag us into a war under the name of struggle with ISIL. We weren’t deceived” statement to the parliamentarians at Afyon is the proof of this.

Moreover, right now, there is no war, which we entered and lost, that would require other countries to gather at Berlin and be observers or guarantors for our own geography and the people living in it.

Secondly, we are not Ottomans anymore.

Thirdly, Kurds are not a minority; we had made an agreement between us on that matter at Lausanne.

Fourthly, during that time, Great Britain, who had benefited from the Berlin Conference, had seized Cyprus. In 1974, even though partially, we had settled our accounts with them also. Besides, it was the years where Bayık was a student at the Faculty of Language History and Geography, he will remember it the best. A family, who were some of the people that had been kicked out of the Caucasus maybe before or maybe after the ‘93 Battle, had purchased a 184-year-old Biscuit Brand of Great Britain.

Yes, life is changing rapidly.

The world is transforming…

Likewise, the name of the newspaper that published the interview; standards are also changing…

Though, is everything changing for the better? Not really…

We might not be a super power, nor at a magnitude enough to change the regional equilibriums. However, we are also not the Ottomans, who stayed at the corner of the table in the Berlin Conference where their faith is being designated without asking them…

Also, it’s clear that what is being attempted is and imposed is; to identically adapt some templates from the past. However, there is a simple reality that’s not being understood by the ones attempting to succeed in this; nothing will provide the same results by repeating the past incidents. The most dramatic thing is observing the ‘68 Generation and their successors still pursuing another world….

It seems that the people that lived in those years, survived and gained even more strength were referring to another world we least expected.

Bayık, who was born in Elazığ in 1955, is a typical example of this.

While he was a university student in the capital, during the 1970’s Turkey, he became a member of a Marxist-Leninist organization, and then asked for the USA to be an observer in the Resolution Process.

How weird, isn’t it?

Even though his intention is hoping for the impossible, this is a declaration that reveals the objective and the plan.

Ok, the world is changing; however, not that much.

There are also impossible things in this life.

One of them is to return the Republic of Turkey to the conditions of 1878.

As for the other, experiencing a season where Beşiktaş doesn’t get a raw deal.
