While meteorites are flying around us

We couldn’t have enough of discussing the rulership change in our neighboring country, and we will surely be discussing it even more in the next couple of days.

Syriza had taken 36 percent of the “radical left-wing coalition”, with a general description, missed out on the single rulership by only two parliamentarian seats and consented on a coalition with ANEL, who has 13 elected parliamentarians.

The change of rulership wasn’t the spectacular matter.

It wasn’t Syriza’s success in taking over all the places, where PASOK (the center of rulership for years) had taken most of the votes, in just 10 years.

What was amazing was the fact that a rulership, which declared that they will be refusing to tighten their pants and correspond to the adjurations, sanctions and warnings suggested for Greece during a time when the global economic crisis is ongoing, had acceded.

Alexis Çipras, the leader of the party, is swiftly ascending to the charismatic leadership of this alteration, this surprising result. In all of the world’s press, there are smiling pictures. The number of people following his twitter account was increasing by thousands while this article was being written.

The reason why we and the world will be discussing this political earthquake in Athens is based on; seeing to what extent they can realize their promises, and, how the European Union and the world will be effected as those promises are actualized.

Those promises are not only about economic transformation or refusal. There are also critical foreign political moves like stopping relations with Israel and defending Gaza.

For example, this amounts to the uncertainty of the “Egypt-Israel-Greece” (Greek populated Southern Cyprus) cooperation in joint oil explorations in the Mediterranean.

If the new rulership fails to get credit from Europe and the patrons of the global system, the conflict increases and the rulership is attempted to be punished, then it is yet uncertain how the relations with Turkey will be shaped. As opposed to the popular belief, if a stronger cooperation opportunity arises between Ankara and Athens, from the point of economy and investment, then nobody should be surprised.

Thus, the result of the elections in Athens is carefully being observed from Berlin, Paris and London. They are face to face with a result that closely interests the EU and its joint currency Euro’s future. It’s not easy to make out what it will correspond to in the main scrambles over the world, or, who is on which side.

There might not be other dynamics behind every communal incident ever time; communities sometimes make decisions with their inner dynamics; and incline towards different ways.

While all of Europe, but especially Germany, had fixed their eyes on Greece, the deaths in Europe, which is being observed by Berlin with the same attention, had reached a dramatic level sufficient to be included in the headlines.

Do you wonder what Russia, who is punished by the drop in oil prices and sanctions, is thinking about the elections in Athens? The results of this election must be the only thing they are secretly happy with. While Japan started to spend more money on their defensive expenditure after long years, and while it was thought that the new great scramble will be in the Pacific, maybe China, Japan and others had gained more time and advantage.

We will see to what extent the coalition under the leadership of Syriza can realize the things it desires, and how these results would affect the politics in Spain and Italy, the Mediterranean countries that are the most affected by the crisis.

Another spectacular development is the prevalence of demonstrations against coups in Egypt and Egypt seeming more legitimate, while Northern Africa and the Middle East are becoming more vulnerable for an even stronger disorder following the Paris attacks.

It seems that the world is not always a place where everything is on the rails for some people according to the plans and designs designated in certain centers.

We will see how Europe, the giant continent, will be affected by the alteration in a perimeter country, which possesses a population of ten million and can hardly be considered as a middle division.

We will see how this effect will reflect on the world by fluctuating economically, politically and militarily.

….

While I was writing this article, in other words, last night at 18:15, a meteorite, half a kilometer in diameter, was getting closer to the world. Four minutes later, in other words, at 18:19, it passed by us 1,250,000 kilometers away.

A meteorite, close to this size, had crashed on the Yucatan Peninsula, which is on the inclined corner of Mexico, 65 million years ago. And  according to the theory, the dust cloud it caused is the actual reason behind the dinosaurs’ extinction.

In brief, in this world, where everything is interlocked, an important change affects everyone and everything. It’s not necessary to wait for a meteorite crash for a radical change.

Here, as a result of an election, the trinity coalition setup against Turkey in the Mediterranean is already cracking, and the Euro can regress down to the lowest point in the past 11 years only by the promises of the winner.

We will see what else will happen….
