Upon the appointment of trustees to municipalities that are involved in terrorism, that support terrorism, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ made a statement saying, “We will ruin Eid for them.” Then, on the first day of Eid, the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) blasted a vehicle loaded with more than a ton of bombs near the AK Party building in Van. The vehicle explosion was detonated at a moment when it was calculated it would be the most crowded due to the Eid atmosphere, injuring about 50 civilians.
