How many “genocides” does the Syria tragedy count as?

The violence in Syria, which is purposely committed towards the dignity, pride and lives of people, and which had gradually increased, enough to be a subject of statistics, to which every person in the country is exposed to and which harbors enough humanity crimes in itself, had become invisible within the greatness of numbers. So much so, that it feels like the numbers no longer carry any importance.

How many people died in Syria since March 2011, when the protests against the regime were starting to be oppressed with blood? How many people had to run away? Not so long ago this number was over 400,000. Now, is there anyone who cares how much this number is at the moment?

After the unity provided among the antagonists recently, they started to make very effective breakthroughs. As a result, they have captured Idlib and many places that were under the control of the regime. Now they are forcing Aleppo. However, meanwhile, the regime started air attacks on the places captured by the antagonists and during these attacks, bombs, which are regarded as war crimes within the context of the law of war, are being used. Wherever the barrel bombs land, they are causing horrible deaths and damages, without differentiating between children or citizens.

Just yesterday, as a result of using barrel and chlorine bombs, which are even forbidden to be used in wars, in Aleppo and Idlib, dozens of children lost their lives. As a result of this kind of bombing, every day dozens, hundreds of civilian people are losing their lives. The outcome of the war in Syria can now be stated numerically with; one million dead people and over ten million people in exile. How many genocides, the type we are being claimed to have conducted against Armenians, does this make? While accepting nuclear weapons as a red line in the Syria matter, it seems that the U.S. couldn't see any violated line in deaths of over one million people.

Of course, what the U.S. fails to see cannot be seen by the world. As a result of the merciless operations of a regime, who declared war against its own community, the outcome is around one million dead people and around ten million deported people; however there is still nothing to be called genocide or anyone that will be blamed. However, the ones, who cannot diagnose the genocides happening in front of them in our present time, can easily adjudge an incident, which is said to have happened a hundred years ago and about which they will have difficulty in acquiring knowledge, as genocide.

As a result of the long trials in the operation, which clearly aimed at slaughtering 250 million Muslims in Bosnia and making an ethnical clearing, the International Court found genocide; however, also stated that they couldn't find anyone who committed it. In other words, there is a clear crime, however, there is no one to blame. In fact, the culprit is pure and simple.

It's clear that there is another sensitivity, which is blind to what's happening in front of it, and keeping an open eye on the happenings in history. In short, we called that sensitivity Islamophobia or Crusader sensitivity; but every day we are experiencing examples that makes this sensitivity more visible.

After discovering that ISIL in Kobani is the most felonious organization of the world, the U.S. and Europe swiftly formed a coalition and put their signatures to a show to prevent this humanity tragedy. However, each passing day, they are continuing to ignore and remain deaf against the realizations of much worse crimes against humanity. In exchange for introducing the ISIL violence to the world with a pornographic hunger, we are not saying a word to the Shi'ite Militias in Iraq to make slaughters worse than ISIL's and their ethnic clearing against Sunnis. Let us say that there is a formidable demographic surgery being done as a result of these actions in the region; however, the more extensive version of this statement is “a complete ethnical clearing”. None of the humanity crimes are being presented in the Western news. However, when the whole world was on pins and needles over Kobani, after all, it was only Turkey that helped Kurds in the end.

At the same time, while all these were necessary to be evaluated in the same category, what is the reason for this two-faced pickiness in matters like genocide or humanity crimes? Basing on these many examples, today we can easily say that; the definition of genocide is limited with implementing it with one or other elements, which are against the crimes against itself or it's limited with being used against the factors they support.

They can easily take any reaction, which carries their own values or interest, which moves accordingly to the adversary's agenda, under the pressure of human rights, and thus they can easily produce any kind of humanity crime identification in order to send external aid. However, it's understood that no matter what's being done to people, who seem distant from their own values, they don't care.

The crimes against humanity committed by the PYD or PKK member militia women, who are living together with the men on the mountains without a traditional and moral value, will be presented as independence struggles. If a different type of violence is committed against them, this violence might be fictionalized as a reactionary resistance. Because, as it is, women do not represent anything related with the Muslim world, and it's regarded to be directly belonging to the world of Western values.

The same thing is also valid for the Nusayris in Syria. Nobody even said, “You are killing Sunnis” to Assad, who killed almost one million people in four years, but as long as one million people had lost their lives, as soon as the community stood up and showed a promise of progress, suddenly the slaughter danger and possibility against the Alawites was mentioned. Since the beginning, Turkey has only been targeting slaughters and humane crimes, despite looking at who is being killed or who committed it. Regardless of who did it to whom. In exchange, the two-faced pickiness presented against the slaughters shows just how much the Westerners are within a racist or Islamophobic motivation in their genocide sensitivity.
