After the Jerusalem resolution was vetoed by the U.S. versus 14 votes at the UN Security Council, the drafted resolution against Trump’s decision that was submitted to the General Assembly thanks to Turkey’s efforts was approved.
Of course the only result here is not just that there were 128 votes in favor of versus nine votes against the resolution.
There are non-numerical political, psychological and historical results of this.
The first result was that
the U.S. was held hostage by the idea that it has no other ally but itself.
Don’t misunderstand, a country would have many allies if it were fair and acted with wisdom, vision and a maturity that is in accordance with its power.
However, those who don’t have any respect for anybody’s existence, history and identity shall see that they will have no allies.
Don’t think that Israel, whose presence they sacrificed, will be or remain an ally of the U.S.
Its relationship with Israel is limited to the Evangelical theology.
The words “
The world is bigger than five”,
whichthe Minister of Foreign Affairs
ended his speech with and that has become a slogan of our president, expressed a great manifesto that has been acknowledged by the entire world along with the decision itself.
Of course this result isn’t binding. Neither does Trump’s declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel hold any significance, however, it creates a de facto situation and Israel’s occupation continues step by step by destroying Palestinians.
On the other hand, this UN decision revealed that Israel’s de facto occupation is indeed an occupation and illegal and that the U.S. has become a part of this occupation and illegality by supporting it.
It may not include any sanctions but this decision draws a line for legitimacy.
After this decision, the entire world saw that the U.S. has acted illegally despite its power.
This result showed us that financial, technological and military power does not always bring superiority.
It is often said that Turkey is under certain sieges at certain periods of time
The problems which occurred in international relationships lead to opinions that Turkey is being isolated and things are in fact going badly. The fact that Erdoğan gathered the Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul in one week as the term president, the stance he adopted there and now this result he has lead in the UN General Assembly proved Turkey’s diplomatic power without a doubt despite all problems.
Of course, it was also understood that this diplomatic power was mostly because it was in the right and this rightful position was possible with good leadership and management.
In fact, the courage that was needed to reveal this wrongful position which isolated the U.S. and discomforted the entire world only needed to be gathered. Erdoğan’s leadership was what gathered this courage and had this declaration made.
Truth be told, these results have been instrumental for showing the world
political genius and leadership of Erdoğan,
who has been the target of systematic discredit and smear campaigns since the Gezi incident,
that already been indisputably proven in Turkey.
Thanks to him, the opposition the world needed had a chance to express itself.
The US’s peace in our country, tyranny in the world policy
Trump’s arrogant and blackmailing discourse he has used toward all countries to vote in the General Assembly shows us what the U.S. perceives as democracy.
The U.S., which doesn’t make any compromises in democracy in their own country, has a vision for a tyrannical order for the world which it wants to maintain with blackmail, oppression and deception.
The U.S. does not understand why other countries object to it because it wants to be obeyed without questioning as it provides the largest amount of financial aid to the operations of the UN. This attitude of the U.S., which demands obedience no matter what its decisions, or no matter how senseless and unjust it may be was expressed by the figure representing the U.S. in the General Assembly.
After this blackmail order of the U.S. faced such a challenge for the first time, its mask for democracy, human rights and freedom of speech fell.
A very ugly picture emerged beneath the cluttered foreign policy discourse of the U.S..
It’s a key concern of how the U.S. will determine its policy after being caught in the syndrome of being isolated and abandoned.
It is very likely that Trump will be the one who will be caught up in the storm for this.
It is also getting very likely that the judicial sword hanging over Trump will be used as an opportunity to compensate for the state that he put the U.S. in.
Of course there will be those who will want to make Turkey pay for the state the U.S. finds itself in after the UN’s Jerusalem resolution.
But despite all disaster scenarios directed toward itself, Turkey continues to rise, grow and come to the fore by relying on its right stance.
Trump chose to gift Jerusalem to Israel as a way to save himself from this judicial threat on him. However, this quagmire he dropped the U.S. foreign policy to in will make things even more difficult for him.
