The words U.S. President Donald Trump used in the press conference with his French counterpart Macron about his expectations from the Arab World were like the disclosure of the secret codes of how they have governed the world so far.
Trump was explicitly presenting the entire plot which their relationships with the Arab countries in general and Gulf countries in particular were depending on. In fact, by expressing them this explicitly he has turned the diplomatic practices, style and relations upside-down.
Trump is explicitly demanding funds. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates must have plenty of money and they have the right to it because of the protection they have provided so far. Trump is claiming this right.
Since the September 11 attack, the U.S. has spent 7 trillion dollars in the operations conducted in the Middle East and in fact, it has conducted all for the security of those countries. He also claimed that while the U.S. has spent all this money to protecting these countries from the threat of Iran and also for anti-terror operations, Arab countries are sitting on an immense fortune and they are not sharing it with them.
In fact, this is not the first time Trump is using such words. Even before he was elected as president, he was speaking like this and saying much more on Twitter or in some of his speeches. It was expected that he would soften those hard-to-swallow ideas after taking office, or even if he maintained the same ideas he would express them more kindly. However, Trump stood firm with his tone and continued to express the same ideas in the same manner.
As a matter of fact, although those rudely-articulated statements were the outspoken expression of his ideas, they do not reflect the reality to the same degree; they are antipodal. Neither Saudi Arabia nor any other Arab countries are in need of the U.S.’s protection. Not against Iran or any other power…
In fact, it is none-other than the U.S. that causes the need for this protection. The U.S. invaded Iraq with the excuse of stopping a terror threat 5,000 miles away from its borders, not for protecting the Arabs from terror. The justification of weapons of mass destruction turned out to be a big lie, and now it is known that this was just an excuse made up in order to invade Iraq.
For this reason, there is no reason for anybody to make out an invoice to anyone. Today they are talking about protecting Saudi Arabia and the Gulf from the threat of Iran, however everyone knows and sees that the sole responsible for Iran becoming a threat is no one but the U.S. itself.
The U.S., which invaded Iraq and occupied it for about a decade and later served it entirely on a silver platter to Iran, successfully ensured this to be a disturbing cause of tension for the Arab countries. Today Iran is the most practical tool used by the U.S. to get money out of Arab countries. Nobody should expect it to exhaust this tool in the near future. On the surface, both Iran’s anti-U.S. and the U.S.’s anti-Iran sentiment are the most practical ways of spending the funds of Arab countries.
In today’s world order, Iran is a magnificent meal ticket for the U.S.
Iran being non-threatening is a bigger for the U.S.’s Middle East order. In such a case, the U.S. will undoubtedly take all kinds of measures to try to revive this threat.
In fact, establishing an order through such a mentality is the most famous method of mafia orders. It demands money with the promise of clearing that place from a bad lot. Everyone knows that there is no one more dangerous than the one providing protection. The guardian is the threat itself. If it doesn’t pose a challenge there will be nobody to establish a threat or ruin the order.
For this reason, that protection is provided for preventing itself from posing the threat, and its price is related to the wealth of the one protected and the mercy of the guardian.
The U.S. has no mercy and the Arab countries have a great deal of wealth. Over the fortunes of the Arab countries, there is the right of all the poor and hungry Muslims, and even with the zakat of the money collected the famine problem in the Muslim world can be solved easily.
However, the U.S. doesn’t care about it at all. In fact, this has always been the same in the relationships between the U.S. and the Gulf countries. However, nobody has expressed this order that explicitly so far. Trump is expressing the mindset and the approach lying behind the background of the U.S. world order in the most clear and outspoken way.
At this point, what is difficult to understand is how easily the Arab countries agree with this relationship. Don’t they know that cowards die many times before their deaths? Don’t they even know that once you give in to providing donations and blackmail it is impossible to satisfy that establishment?
The U.S. has once imposed this order on Turkey as well and we can say that Turkey was imposed to allocate funds to the extent of its assets. In the last ten years, Turkey succeeded to free itself from the order of funds and blackmail. It rejected the U.S.’s attempt to get it to support the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK)’s Syrian branch, the YPG, in order to get be free of Daesh terror.
No thanks, said Turkey. I neither want your anti-terror struggle nor your help in this aspect. And ironically what kind of a fight is yours that the more you fight, the bigger the threat gets.
Through time, we also clearly understood that the biggest responsible for the terror in the Middle East is none other than the U.S. and its policies. There is only one thing to say after seeing this reality: We want nothing else but for you to stay out of our way.
