The charity agency of Turkey’s top religious authority is set to help some 10 million people across the world during the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, set to start on Aug. 21.

The Turkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), the charity agency of the Religious Affairs Directorate, will slaughter sacrificial animals and deliver meat across Turkey and in 145 countries, TDV head Mehmet Savas Polat told Anadolu Agency.

A crew of some 6,500 people will distribute meat to needy people in recipient countries including Chad, Niger, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Pakistan.

This year's theme of their Eid-al-Adha campaign is "Share your sacrificial animals, get closer to your brother," Polat said.

Last year, more than 250,000 shares of sacrificial animals were delivered, he added.
