Borsa Istanbul goes up at start of week

BIST 100 gains 0.75 percent; US dollar-Turkish lira exchange rate hovers at around 3.74; euro-lira rate falls to 4.49

Turkey's stock exchange started the week up 0.75 percent, opening at 117,514.33 points on Monday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 876.39 points from Friday’s close of 116,637.94 points.

The banking and holding sectors increased by 0.90 and 0.67 percent, respectively.

All sector indices started the day with a rise while the transportation sector index was the best performer, marking an increase of 1.12 percent.

The U.S. dollar stood at 3.7410 Turkish liras at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Monday, compared with Friday's closing rate of 3.7450.

The euro-lira exchange rate fell to 4.4970 from Friday's close of 4.5060.

The price of Brent oil stood at $67.69 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday, compared with $67.62 at its previous close.

Turkish Statistical Instituted said in a report on Monday that Turkish industrial production rose 7 percent year-on-year in November 2017.
