Supply chains remain vulnerable to potential event risk due to the trajectory of the coronavirus pandemic, Fitch Ratings said Tuesday.

"Global sales are forecast to increase but are likely to remain about 6% below the 2019 pre-pandemic level," according to the global rating agency.

It warned, however, that increased production and rebuilding of inventories could lead to price increase in the latter half of 2022.

Record-high inflation has been putting a risk on global economic recovery during the post-pandemic era.

The euro area posted an annual inflation rate of 4.9% in November -- the highest since 1997, according to provisional figures released by Eurostat.

In the US, consumer prices soared 6.2% in October, the largest 12-month increase since 1990, and producer prices were up 8.6% in that month on an annual basis.
