Turkish home and housewares products grabbed the spotlight Monday at an international home and housewares fair in Chicago.

The products were showcased at 20 stands manned by Turkish companies at the International Home Housewares Show at McCormick Place.

Turkish Consul General to Chicago Umut Acar also attended the fair to visit the stands.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Acar said Turkey had been well represented this year at the U.S.’s most important housewares fair, including by companies that want to enter the market.

Acar said the growing interest of Turkish companies in the U.S. market is 'promising' in terms of developing Turkish-American economic and commercial relations.

He said some Turkish products are being sold in major chains such as Wal-Mart.

"Turkish products are extremely attractive in terms of price and quality, so American consumers will definitely prefer Turkish products," he said.

Acar said Turkish companies that want to enter the U.S. market can benefit from the Turkish Trade Centers projects that were started by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and the Turkish Exporters Assembly.

"The larger visibility of Turkish companies in the U.S. market will positively contribute to the Turkish-American society and the representation of our country,” he added.

The fair, which features more than 2,200 exhibitors from over 45 countries, opened Saturday and ends Tuesday.
