Turkey will continue to improve political and commercial relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party lawmaker said on Thursday.

Refik Ozen's remarks came during a meeting with the Bosnian Ambassador to Turkey, Bakir Sadovic, at the Turkish parliament.

Ozen, also head of the Turkey-Bosnia and Herzegovina parliamentary friendship group, said the "brother" country has always been by Turkey's side since the republic was founded.

"We will continue to improve our political, commercial and cultural relations with brother Bosnia Herzegovina in the coming term," he said.

The trade volume between the two countries reached $630 million in 2018, Ozen stressed, adding that Turkey is in the 9th place in direct foreign investments to Bosnia Herzegovina.

Sadovic, for his part, said Turkey made very important contributions to the Balkans with its intense diplomacy and political efforts to ensure peace.

He added that around 10,000 students were learning the Turkish language in his country through Turkish institutions providing services in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
