Turkey wins bronze at World Taekwondo Grand Prix

Turkey bagged one bronze medal Friday on the last day of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Grand Prix in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

In total, Turkey won one gold and two bronze medals in the WTF Grand Prix.

In the third and last day of the competition, Thailand and Russia won gold medals, Korea and Ivory Coast bagged silver medals, while Turkey, Croatia, Great Britain and Egypt took home bronze medals.

On the last day, Turkey’s Rukiye Yıldırım won one bronze medal in the women’s 49 kg category.

On Thursday, Turkish taekwondo athlete Irem Yaman won a gold medal in the women’s 57 kg category by beating her Belgian opponent Raheleh Asemani 3-1.

It was Yaman’s second win in the grand prix championship in a row and she will receive 40 points in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

In the women’s 67kg category, Turkey’s Nafia Kuş bagged bronze medal after being defeated by British world champion Bianca Walkden in the semifinal.
