Qatari book fair kicks off with Turkish participation

Turkish contributions to exhibition include numerous books in Arabic, English, Turkish and Persian

The 28th Doha International Book Fair

The 28th Doha International Book Fair kicked off Wednesday in the Qatari capital with the participation of 355 publishers from 29 countries, including Turkey.

The fair, which is being hosted by the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center under the patronage of Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, will continue until Dec. 5.

The opening session of the event was attended by Qatari Culture and Sports Minister Salah bin Ghanem al-Ali; Deputy Prime Minister Hamad al-Kuwari; Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry Undersecretary Omer Arisoy; Turkish Ambassador to Qatar Fikret Ozer; and numerous diplomats based in Qatar.

Several literary seminars, book-signings and vocational workshops are also being held on the exhibition’s sidelines.

Turkey’s contributions to the exhibition include numerous books in Arabic, English, Turkish and Persian, while a Turkish musical ensemble will also perform at the event.
